MARKET PRICES TRIFLE LOWER Strawberries Sell at 70 Cents a' Quart. With an abundance of green foodBluffs in sight, city market prices remained steady to a trifle lower to-/ day. Egg plans reappeared, at 40 cents each. Strawberries were lower; at 70 cents a quart, but head lettuce was up, selling at 15 and 20 cents a head. Other prices included: Domestic endive, 15 and 20 cents a head; red cabbage, 14 and 20 cents a head; cucumbers, 40 cents each; leaf lettuce, 20 cents a pound peas, 30 cents a pound; home-grown celery, 2b cents a bunch; tomatoes, 25 cents a pound; new potatoes. 15 cents a pound; apples, 15 cents a pound; Grimes Golden and Russets, 10 cents a pound; grapefruit, 10 cents each, three for 25 cents; oranges, 40 to 60 cents a dozen; lemons, 30 to 40 cents a dozen, and pineapples, 40 and 50 cents each. Chickens and butter were steady, chickens selling at 42 and 60 cents a pound and ducks 50 cents a pound. Eggs were 42 to 50 cent? a dozen. Halibut, whlteflsh and salmon were still 35 cents a pound; crappies and white perch, 20 cents, and carp and mullets, 15 cents a pound. INSULL HEARING IS SET Proposed Merger Will Re Before Commissioner March 4. The first official hearing on the move of Insull interests to unify the Indiana utility field will be held *- •ear March 4. before Public Service Commissioner Clyde H. Jones, it was announced today. Jones will hear evidence on the proposed merger of the Northern Indiana Gas and Electric Company Into the Northern Indiana Public Service Company, involving the transfer of millions of dollars’ worth of securities. TAX BRINGS BIG SUM Gasoline Revenue for Year Estimated at $7,500,000. Approximately $7,500,00 will have been raised by Indiana’s 3-cent gasoline tax during the year ending Feb. 28, 1926, it has been estimated by Archie N. Bobbitt, State gasoline tax collector. An exact computation of the year’s proceeds, however, cannot be made until later. Two of the 3 cents raised on each gallon of gasoline goes to the State highway commission for road building. This will total about $5,000,000. The other cent’s proceeds, about $2f1,500,000, will be distributed among the various counties, cities and towns on the basis of their relative population. DEAD CHICKENS LEFT A disgruntled burglar or one who sought revenge, broke into the chicken coop of Solomn Gurvltz, 654 Blake St., Monday night, ‘ killed fowls valued at $lO and left them on the floor.
