LINE DECLARES LEADERSHIP OF "LINCOLN LIVES Churches of City Observe Patriotic Day With Special Services. Patriotic services were held Sunday in many Indianapolis churches as the token of respect to the memory of Abraham Lincoln. "Abraham Lincoln,” the Rev. Fred A. Line, said Sunday at the Central Universalist Church, "was altogether human in his attitudes, tendencies and practices, a man of the common people, entering Into the experiences of life with the rich man and the'poor man, the learned and the Ignorant, the good and the bad. “He was divinely human. He was just folks. Poppen of Grove City* Ohio, declared that future church congregations depended upon the young people of today, he dwelt at length upon the necessity of the community and the church in protecting the welfare and the morals of young people. Mrs. Antoinette Gilardi. a divorcee, was awakened in the early hours by a knock on her back door. She' opened It and her children heard three shots. She died Instantly. Police seek a former suitor. Thomas Christensen, a detective, shot and killed William Wawrzynklewcz. an Inn-keeper. Clarence Glenn. 34, part owner of a soft drink parlor was killed by Virgil Lltzlnger, a minor political leader. Worshipers in the Santa Marla Church were disturbed at 6 a. ,/m., yesterday by a bomb explosion In a nearby Chinese laundry.

SHRINKAGE IN, REVENUES Street Car Net Earnings Boosted During Tear, However. A shrinkage of $61,806 during 1925 in the gross revenues of the Indianapolis Btreet Railway Company is shown in a financial report filed today with the public service commission. It was the first full canledar year In which the 7-cent fare was in operation. Gross revenues in 1924 were $5,588,176.60, as aguinot $5,536,369.78 last year. Shrinkage was due to bus competition and a loss in passengers hauled, officials say. By reducing operating expenses, however, net earnings were boosted from $484,965.08 to $487,741.69. A $13,790.06 surplus was gained by deferring two quarterly dividends. ASHES START FLAME Hot ashes in the basement of the Ballard Ice Cream Company, 815 N. Alabama St., started a fire causing a $2,000 damage late Saturday. Fire was confined to the stables. Ten horses were rescued by firemen.

The firm has attracted much favorable comment on the windowr of the Bankers’ Trust Company by she frequently changed, original Ideas used in the display cards, designed by Boaz.

ELEVATOR TO BE BUILT Million-Bueliel Structure Near Beech Grove Planned. A million-bushel grain elevator, to cost $300,000, will be started near Beech Grove soon for the Indiana Wheat Growers' Association, and will be completed in July, It was announced today. The plant will be nerth of the Big Four tracks and west of Sloan Ave. Bacon & Tlslow, Indianapolis architects, prepared plans and the R. C. Stone Engineering and Construction Company, St. Louis, will build the structure.
