The small vegetable garden at Abraham Lincoln’s home was his special, care. It was planted, weeded and tended by him. One season all his bean plants were killed by the frost. A neighbor who was more successful, gave him eight halfgrown plants. These were carefully planted In the manner shown by young Abe. Three of these plants did not do well, so he transplanted them. The new arrangement was symmetrical and formed seven rows of three plants each. How were the plants changed? Last puzzle answer: When making the division of money remember that the first artist “A” supplied $1.20, or two-fifths of the cash. The second artist “B” supplied three-fifths of the cash. Therefore, “A” will receive twofifths of $1.50 (the money received from the sale of two erasers), or 60 cents minus £0 cents; while “B” will get three-fifths, or 90 cents plus 20 cents. “A” only owns two-fifths of the four erasers costing $2, and he received two erasers for sl. Therefore, since his share is only SO cents he owes “B” 20 cents In cash. Deducting 20 cents from 60 cents leaves 40 cents for "A" and sl.lO for “B.”
