B. —University of Illinois basket players are braced for a brisk battle with Notre Dame’s fast quintet, which invades the local floor Saturday night. The ‘‘lrish,” With a record of eleven victories to defeat, are eager to add tlio IJlini scalps to those of Minnesota, lowa and Northwestern, three Big Ten teams which they have conquered. Mike Nyikos, brother of Johnny, regular center on the “Irish,” undoubtedly will break into the game. Mike was a high scorer in the Big Ten and all-conference forward when he played for Indiana. He migrated to NotfFe Dame and after two years is eligible. His home is at South. Bend. "Chuck” Kassel, 1926 football captain, has been improving so steadily that he is likely to start for the Ulini. Jack Llpe probably will alternate with Holly Martin at forward. The mini expect a big turnout of fans from out of town, attracted by the promise that there will be seats available even at the last minute. ROMANO DOWNS IVPCARTY Mike Wins Two Straight Falls in Broadway Mat Show. Mike Romano, Italian heavyweight, won the wrestling match from Jack McCarty Thursday night at the Broadway Theater in two straight falls. Referee Wiggam disqualified McCarty in the first fall, after warning him for rough work. The time was 16 minutes, 17 seconds. Romano took the final fall in 4 minutes, 54 seconds, after applying a series of headlocks. SWIM MARKS LOWERED Weismuller and Borg Shine in Meet at Chicago. Bu United Press CHICAGO, Feb. s.—Johnny Weismuller lowered the 100-yard backstroke world’s swimming record to 1:01 4-5 here Thursday night. Arne Borg set anew record of 5:32 4-5 in the 500-yard free style. The C. A. A. team brought the 160-yard relay down to 1:14 4-5 in a swimming meet at the Illinois Athletic Club.

HUGE CROWD Evansville Expects 3,000 at Franklin Game. Bu Times Special EVANSVILLE, Ind., Feb. 5. Evansville College’s clean home slate of six contests may go glimmering here Saturday night when Franklin comes to meet the Purple Aces. Despite the chain of six victories, the Purple's hopes for a clean home slate this season are going to wabble with great uncertainty until the final gun fires in Saturday's setto with Franklin. Last Friday Evansville made a very poor showing against the Dittle Hanover five. The Aces were off form and it was only with a supreme final spurt that they came out on top. Unless 3,000 people cram into the Agoga Tabernacle to witness the fray the Purple officials are going to be disappointed.
