'After .spending more than two reeks in a close study of evidence in the ''lndiana Bell Telephone Company Investigation by the public service commission, Samuel R. Artman, member of the State hofiy. will begin work on the order next week, he said today. He expects to spend considerable time drafting order. Anew valuation on the company’s property will be fixed and a rate established thereon. The company, in the recent hearings, contended for a $45,006,000 valuation in asking rate increases aggregating more than $600,000 a year. The commission’s appraised experts held out for a $29,000,000 fair valuation, which would justify a rate reduction. Others, including Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom, maintained that *35,000,000 would be a proper rate making valuation. FRATRICIDE IS CHARGED South Bend Man Accused of Killing Brother in Rage. BOOKS TO~BE~CHOSEN Board of Education Will Adopt Texts For Next Five Years. Bids-will be opened Friday by the State board of education on six different elementary text books which are to be used in Indiana during the next five years by more than a halfmillion school children. Contracts will be awarded Feb. 20 on the books adopted. Publishers of present text books are making a strong fight for readoption of the texts. The board will select textbooks on geography, physiology, histofy, grammar, spelling and domestic science. SENSATIIOiriS~EXPECTED New Evidence Uncovered in Miller Investigation, Report. Practice of municipal court judges in sentencing a man whgp he ha/ a felony charge pending against him in Criminal Court was deplored tdday by Judge James A. Collin* when Henry Haas, indicted for- forgery, appeared for trial. Haas will end a jail term Feb. 15 a drunk sentence given in municipal court, Dec. 31.
