Times Washington llurvau, WASHINGTON, Jan. 20.—Ask the honeymooners; they know. Any pair of lovers that ever loitered at Niagara Palls can tell you how highly illuminated is the international bridge. A Canadian power company supplies half the electricity; an American company the other half. The Canadian company charges the bridge $8.43 per month average. The American company, for the same number of lights on the same bridge, charges $43.10. The Canadian company happens to be government-operated by Ontario province. The American company is privately-operated. belittle the success of the Canadian people. Books attacking the Ontario system are being received from mysterious sources by Senators. Each mail brings propaganda of some sort. Here is the truth about the gov-ernment-operated Ontario system; It is selling electricity to Ontario homes in sixty-three cities for less than 4 cents a kilowattt hour. American private-owned companies are charging American homes from 7 to 20 cents. Ontario is selling electricity to manufacturers for sl2 to S4O per horsepower. American companies are charging from $25 to SBO. The Ontario company is reducing ’.ts rates steadily. In 1912 it was serving only 3.851 homes and charging 4.5 cents average per kilowatt hour. In 1922 it was serving 13,993 homes and charg-
