4 NEW BRIDGES ARE OPENED ON INDIANA ROADS Lafayette Road Viewed by Highway Engineers and Superintendent. Four new bridges, Including an overhead railroad separation, went Into service on Indiana State roads in the last few days eliminating, runarounds and detours, it was announced today in the State highway commission’s traffic bulletin. In addition grading has been completed on No. 41 on the Willow .jiney hill. The new bridges are on thirteen, near Newcastle, railroad jjverhead on sixteen between Centryville and Lincoln City: on twenty-eight at five miles north of Windslow, and on forty-seven, at four miles east of Newtonville. District engineers and superin. tendents, who attended the twelfth annual road school at Purduo University, drove to 'Lafayette in order to observe condition of road surfaces in other territory. Surface conditions, on roads entering Indianapolis. No. 1 (New Albany. Indianapolis. South Pona, Michigan line) —Detour just north of Peru account of dredge ditch. Detour I'iom two miles north of Edinburg to Franklin account of paving. No. 3 (Richmond. Indianapolis. Terre Haute)—Temporary bridge at six miles west of Richmond. No. 6 (Madison. Greensburg. Indianapolis. Lafayette. Oxford)—Detour at two miles west of Richmond. No. 6 (Madison. Greensburg. Indianapolis Lafayette. Oxford)—Detour at two miles north of Lebanon to Thomtown Kd. thence north through Thorntown to No. fl* Short detour two and one-half miles northwest of Thomtown. No. 12 (Vincennes. Speneer, Indianapolis)—Drive carefully at approaches to temporary bridge .two miles north of Gosnort. No. 22 (English. Paoli. Bedford. Bloomington. Martinsville Indianapolis)—Closed at a point flvo miles south of Indianapol a for constructing overhead R. R. bridge. Det >ur is out S. Meridian St. and Three Notch Rd„ thence over one mile of gravel road to No. 22. Closed between Martinsville and Bloomington, and English and Paoli for paving. Through traffic between MartinsvUle and Bloomington, use Nos. 12 and 32. Use old bridge and :old road account of bridge and road construction two miles soutn of Bedford. At Paoli take a country road to Grantsburg via Marengo and English. Avoid south of Grantsburg account contruction ind no detour roads. No. 37 (Indianapolis. Anderson, Moncie)—Using old pavement from Indianapolis to Muneie. Detour around bridge construction at Ingalls. Use old No. 11 at junction of 11 and 37 from two and onehalf miles south of Pendleton to where o'd No. 11 intersects now State road. Use old bridge at north edge of Yorktown. No. 39 (Indianapolis. Rushville. Brookvilie. Ohio line) —Run-around at bridge construction three miles south of Cedar Grove. LETTERS ARE DONATED Collection Is Given to Indiana Historical Department. Through the courtesy of William L. Clements of Bay City, Mich., the Indiana historical department’s collection soon is to be enriched with photostatic copies of several letters belonging to Gen. Nathanael Green of Revolutionary War fame. C. B. Coleman, department head, said several of the letters were written by General Francis Marion, after whom Marion County was named.
