STUMP, LOCAL ATTORNEY, IN 4 SENATE RACE u Announces Candidacy for Long Term Democratic Nomination. Announcement of Albert Stump, Indianapolis attorney, that he seek the Democratic nomination for the long term as United States Senator, has drawn attention of politicians to the Democratic senatorial situation. Apparently Evans Woollen, Indianapolis banker, will have little opposition for the short term, but infiny candidates are expected ior the six-year period. Among the more prominently mentioned posibilities are. State Senator Joseph W. Cravens, Madison John E. Frederick, Kokomo; Dan W. Simms, Lafayette; Frank €. Dailey, Indianapolis, and Walter Myers, Indianapolis. Stump’s announcement says he has no money to build a powerful State organization and that “for any organization to back me I shall depend solely on the support I hope may spontaneously organize itself among the acquaintances I have made throughout Indiana In my discussion of public questions in the many meetings at which I have been vlted to speak.” Stump is a. graduate of Tri-State College, and of Indiana University, where he was a faculty member; was a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, and received the degree of juris doctor cum laude at the University of Chicago. Tully died In a Newcastle hospital after dictating a deathbed statement accusing Miss Pegran. The girl shot herself in the shoulder, but will recover, attending physicians declared.

VONNECUTSATS' PREJUDICES TO BE FORGOTTEN Foremen Changed and Nine Painters Dropped—Shifts Will Be Slow. With several changes in the personnel of departments of the Indianapolis school city already made by the board Theodore F. Vonnegut, president, today announced “no changes will be made because of religious beliefs.” “The board will not act on religious prejudices and the changes contemplated will be made slowly so the operation of the school system will not be hampered," he said. At a special meeting of the board Monday nine painters were dropped from the pay roll and several changes in foremen of various buildings and grounds departments were made on recommendation of Carl W. Eurton, assistant superintendent of buildings and grounds. VVIfl Pick From Ranks “The board will endeavor to pick ail persons possible from the ranks, regardless of religious beliefs,” Vonnegut said. “None of the changes made Monday were because of religious prejudices.” Vonnegut announced a special meeting will be held ‘technically” Wednesday to receive construction bids on the new Shortridge High School., No bids are expected to he received, as the.board has announced all bids will be rejected. “Technical” Meeting Another meeting will be held Friday, when bond issue bids for the new school also will be received "technically.” The board cannot receive the bids because of an error in the advertising.
