SLICK STREET ADVICE GIVEN ‘Keep Your Distance/ Motorists Are Told. “Keep your distance," is the sloppy weather advice handed out by the touring department of the Hoosier Motor Club. "Thjre are too many needless rear-end collisions at this time of the year," says Todd Stoops, club secretary, "and these may be avoided if the motorist will keep his proper distance from the car in front and apply brakes as soon as there is a perceptible decrease in the speed of the car immediately ahead. "Too many motorists are following the car ahead too closely to make a quick stop. The distance between automobiles should be increased during wet weather or on icy pavements, because brakes must be applied cautiously to prevent a skid. The rule of ‘keep your distance’ applies to cars equipped with four-wheel brakes as well as to the ordinary variety of brakes. “Cutting-in ahead of other cars on an icy street is a dangerous practice and one which causes many motorists to hug the car ahead too closely to keep other from cuttingin." Are You a “Wish-er” or a “Will-er”? All people can be roughly divided into two classes. Some have a vague idea what they want to accomplish—and spend their life "wishing” for good luck to bring fortune to them. Tlis others fix their goal—and spend every moment in Intelligent effort getting there. Such people nearly always “arrive.” Their watchword is "I will.” Which class do you belong to?
