SENATORS TO BATTLE FOR OFFICE AGAIN Thirty-Three Will Be Elected to Upper House Next Fait. Times Washinatnn Bureau, 1322 New York Avenue. WASHINGTON, Jan. 15.—Tho Senate Is preparing - to continue itself in office. Senators are getting ready for the primaries which will come this spring and the general election next fall. Campaign committees have been appointed by Republican and Democratic senators and these committees are getting ready to offer aid and comfort to their struggling colleagues, regardless of what later assistance they may receive from their respective national political committees. The Republican senatorial committee is headed by Senator Lawrence Y. Phipps of Colorado, and the Democratic committee has as its chairman Senator Peter Goelet Gerry of Rhode Island. Both chair* men are many times millionaires and there is hope that the forthcoming Senate battles may be amply financed. To Elect Thirty-Three Thirty-three Senators will be elected next fall, one more than tho usual one-third of the Senate. Successors will be chosen to twenty-six Republican and Seven Democratic Senators. There are fifty-six Republican Senators, thirty-nine Democratic Senators and one FarmerLabor Senator now in the Senate. Because such a large proportion of the seats to be defended are held by Republicans, the Democrats are hopeful they may overturn the G. O. P. majority. Some of the most prominent members of the Senate are up for reelection. Among the Republicans are Senators Bingham of Connecticut; Butler of Massachusetts; Cameron of Arizona. Cummins of Iowa; Curtis of Kansa; Dale of Vermant; Ernst of Kentucky; Gooding of Idaho; Harreld of Oklahoma; Jones of Washington; Lenroot of Wisconsin; McKinley of Illinois. Means of Colorado; Moses of New Hampshire,

Underwood has announced he will not seek reeleetlon. “LUCKY” LEFT HANDS LONDON —Superstition has it that left-handed persons are lucky. A medical man has just emphasized that the left-handed child who is allowed to develop naturally is at any rate luckier than the child forced against inclination to use the right hand, for he states that such forcing has frequently resulted in nervous disorders.
