r~-—iWO acts of exceptional merit k I ! I etand out ln the Palace bill } I * | for today and tomorrow. They are Jones and Jones, a blackface comedy act, and Berne Motile and Company In a series of dances, songs and melodies on the piano and violin. vThe two men, Jonea and Jones, take the characters of two southern darkles of the uneducated and indifferent type, who have come “north” to breathe the free air of our supposedly healthy climate. Being ot the kind that would rather walk from work instead of to it, they get hungry and become down and out. The comedy comes from the, a z limes, brilliant conversation of the two as they discuss their woes. In Bebo Moffic and Company, the act numbering four people, we have as talented a group in their different lines as we have seen on the variety stage for some time. A dance, “A. La Bspanol,” was the first feature of the dancer, and it really carried you into that romantic land, it was so full of life and grace. Next we have Victor Herbert’s "Gypsy Sweetheart,” sung in character by a girl with a truly fine voice. After an exceptionally well done violin solo, another beautiful song and another dance by Miss Moffic, we come to the finale of the act. This is where Miss Moffic displays her interpretive dancing ability in the highest degree. It sounds rather o. Unary to say she did a snake dance and that is what it was. But the way the dance was pre- | sented takes it away from those * dances that are seen once ln a while and which rely for their kick upon a live snake in the hands of a mediocre dancer. This woman danced the part, and the least said is that it was so realistic as to convey perfectly the relentless quivering movements of this fascinating reptile. Jane And Catherine Lee, the famous young movie sisters, are present with a shortsketch of work in the studio, and some good burlesque of a Mexican serenader. Arthur Jarrett and Company present the two sides of the case when, for instance, a wife leaves her husband, and when It is the other way around. Ponzini's monkeys open the bill and the ten little fellows go through many tricks on the trapeze under the instruction of their master. Bill includes photoplay, "Parisian Love,” with Clara Bow and a News reel.
