B. —Hammond and the Calumet district today prepared for an industrial boom as the result of the announced iriten tion of Henry Ford to establish a Hying field, warehouse and airplane manufacturing plant near here. The purchase of a tract of 1,44)0 ticres to be used as the site for the flying field, the warehouses and the plant was ■ purchased by the Ford Company Monday. B. —Mrs. Agnes Webb. 31, of Michigan City, lay in a hospital here today with a broken back received in an auto accident near here. She was believed dying when taken to the hospital, but was revived and physicians are now striving to prevent her from being permanently paralyzed below the waist. The auto in which Mrs. riding to Inndianapolis skidded on a slippery pavement and overturned.

A challenge to a debate on the question of whether or not promiscuous smoking and chewing of tobacco is an abuse of personal liberty has-been sent the National Bard of Tobacco Salesmens’ Asoci*ution by the No-Tobacco Deague of America, which has national headquarters at 415 Occidental Bldg. The challenge follows issuance of a resolution by the tobacco salesmens’ group, in which the No-To-bacco League is assailed for asking Vice President Dawes to discontinue the use of tobacco.
