Between now and Christmas morning, there’s a lot of time that can be filled in fixing up a Christmas basket and toys for some family thsd will be so disappointed without it. Eighty families have been cared for, so far. There’s old folks on this list. Forlorn little old people without any young bloods to bring Christmas to them or cheer their lonely old hearts. And do you think there’s some kind of a special Santa Claus that looks after little dark-skinned folks? Not so’s you can notice it! Little dark-skinned babies believe in Santa Claus too, and its the same old, jolly round, fat fellow that the rest of us love. And these chubby youngsters with soft southern dialect are giong to hang up their stockings on Christmas eve, just like the little white chilluns. Pick Your Family Here's the list, folks! Wouldn’t you like to call Main 3500 and ask for The Times Santa Claus and get the name and address of one of these needy families, so you can make Christmas a bright day in their drab calendar? 68. A hard working widow, a woman, goes out by the day and her oldest son brings home his wages, but even so they barely have enough money to go around. The boys are 6, 8 and 21. The girls are 12 and 15. Family Welfare Society recommends a generous basket. 73. A widow, a colored woman, has been doing her best to support WOULD STOP ABUSE Campaign Against Adoption of Orphans for Work Starts. Kt, ..United Press CtIICAGO, Dec. 23.—A campaign to stop families from adopting orphan boys for the sole purpose of working them through the summer and then returning them to orphanages was started today by the Rev. E. J. Flanagan, head of a nonsectarian orphanage, “It doesn’t seem possible that there are human beings so low to do this, but there are and it will take the combined services of every orphanage in the country to stamp out the evil,’’ Flanagan said. FIREMAN TO GIVE DANCE Money Secured Will Be Used to Buy Children Presents. City firemen of the east side will give a Christmas entertainment and dance Thursday evening at the Commonwealth Community Hall, Dearborn and E. Michigan Sts., to raise money with which to provide Christmas gifts for poor children. Fire companies Nos. 12, 20 and 27, will be in charge and will distribute candy and oranges to the children. East side merchants have assisted. Funds are toybe raised at a charity bail after the entertainment.

The father works hard to provide for all of them but the Family Welfare Society has had to help with clothing.
