CITY TO KEEP ONE-WAY RULE Mayor Tells Board It Has | Traffic Authority. Authority to maintain one-way traffic on Meridian St. during rush hours is vested in the hoard of safety and there is np opportunity for conflict with State laws, Mayor Shank today told the hoard. “You stand on your rights and keep the one-way traffic,” he advised. “The law says you can regulate traffic on preferential streets.” Shank smd a referendum he held indicated 2,400 people favored the system while only 300 opposed it. HIS AUTO RAN ‘STILL’ Kentucky Youth Sent to Reformatory After Crash. Bv Times Special LEBANON, Ind., Dec. ?2.~Carelessness today sent Leonard Roe, 19, to the Indiana State Reformatory for one to five years. Roe’s auto was wrecked in a collision with another machine at a cross roads near Lebanon. “It was awful careless of me,” he told Sheriff Saunders. "You’re right,” the sheriff said, spying a still in the back seat of the wrecked auto. Roe, who said his home was in pulton, Ky., was sentenced a few Jiours later. REVENGED Benefactor Catches Men Who Robbed Fruit Store. Bu United Press SEYMOUR, Ind., Dec. 22.—Police today claimed to have a confession from Vincent Sanatola. 18. of New York, admitting the theft of $l5O in cash and S2OO in checks from James Allegro, local fruit dealer. Allegro befriended Sanatola and a friend, said to have been John Knowles, of Philadelphia when the pair, seeking shelter from the cold, applied to him for aid. Monday morning Allegro found thcpair gone and with them his money. He followed them to North Vernon and then at the point of a revolver forced Sanatola to return with him to Seymour. LA FOLLETTE BEATEN Jlu United Press WASHINGTON, Dec. 22.—Senator La Follette of Wisconsin today introduced a resolution requiring Secretary 'of the Treasury Mellon to send the Senate corporation tax returns of anthracite coal operators for 1924. Upon objection of Senator Reed, Pennsylvania, Republican, the resolution went over, under the rules, until tomorrow.
