U. M. W. LEADER FIGHTS BATTLE \ District Head to Go to International Board. Bti Unit'd Prtaa TERRE HAUTE, Ind., Dec. 21. Tyler G. Lawton, president of District No. 11, United Mine Workers, will carry his battle against lus enemies in the district to President John L. Lewis and the international executive board. Lawton has issued a circular to the locals throughout Indiana, warning them against a circular sent out by local union No. 884 of American mine No. 1, Bicknell. This circular attacked a number of Lawton’s decisiomS regarding internal trouble at the mine. Lawton says in his circular that the statements are false and that he will take the matter up with the international executive board. CHILD WELFARE HEAD Veterans’ Bureau Man Named Chairman by Legion Commander. Burnett Breedlove of the United States Veterans Bureau has been appointed seventh district chairman of the Child Welfare Division of the American Legion following a conference with Tom McConnell, State commander, who will serve during the coming year as State chairman of the welfare work. Purpose of this new division will be to locate and bring to the notice of proper officials the orphan or otherwise needy children of exservice men and women. HEADS TEACHERS’ BODY Mrs. Cora Stelle, Terre Haute, has been re-elected chairman of the executive committee of the Indiana State Teachers’ Association, which will hold an organization meeting here in January. Members of the committee are Mrs. Mary S. Ray and C. O. Williams, both of Indianapolis. PRESTO SALES MANAGER J. H. DEMOCRATS TO MEET Progressive League Will Hear Address by Albert Stump. “Why I Am a Democrat,a" will be the subject of an address Albert Stump will deliver to the Democratic Progressive League at 8 tonight at the Indiana Democratic Club, 518 N.
