Sermon Topics of the Pastors

mHERE will be a special Christmas Sunday service at the Central Universallst Church Sunday morning with solo, duet, and uuartet numbers by the choir and a Christmas sermon by the pastor, the Rev. Fred A. Line, on the subject, "Santa Claus and Jesus.” %* * • The Brotherhood of the First Baptist Church will entertain the children of the Crawford Baptist Industrial School at a Christmas aprty on Monday night, Dec. 21. A reception will be given the children one-half hour immediately preceding the dinner, which will be served by women of the other Qlass of the Bible school. The children’s part on the evening’s program will last thirty minutes. Orchestra music. Christmas carols on a cornet, a Christmas tree and Santa Claus and an address relating to the spirit of Christmas will be other features of the program. It will be ladies’ night.. • * * The sermon subject of ( Elden H. Mills, pastor of First Friends Church on Sunday at the 10:45 o’clock service will be, "And Are Come to Worship Him.” • • • "Thou Shall Call His Name Jesus” is the sermon topic for the morning service of the Rev. E. F. Prevo at the Riverside Park Methodist Episcopal Church. The Rev. K. L. Davis D. D. Sec. of the Preachers Aid Society, will speak at the evening service. • * • Sunday morning the pastor, Homer Dale, will preach at Hillside Christian Church on "The Birthday Os a King.” A special program of Christmas music will be rendered. The pageant, which is being produced under the direction of Charles Norris Houghton, involves over 150 people. In its cast and staff. Fped Newell Morris is directing the music. The soloists in addition to Mr. Morris will be Mrs. Florence Parkin Welch, Mrs. W. A. Shead and Mr. Floyd Chafee, with Paul R. Matthews organist. The leading parts will be taken by Henry C. Thornton, Robert Humphries, Miss Omie Harris and Charles E. Nourse. Miss Katherine Keifer, Mrs. Edward .L. Pedlow and Mrs. H. B. Pike axe the assistant directors; Mr. Edward W. Harris is chairman of the committee on arrangements. The staff for production also includes Miss Olga Hoffman, casting director; Mrs. Jack Janes, in charge of costumes; Miss Katherine Keely, properties, and T. D. Hall, stage. JOLSON TO OPEN IN CHICAGO A1 Jolson in “Big Boy,” in which he has achieved the greatest triumph of his career, will open at the Apollo Theatre in Chicago on Sunday night, Dec. 20, for an extended engage ment which it is anticipated will continue lyitil the close of the curreiQ season. During the seasons of 1926-27 and 1927-28 Mr. Jolson will tour the principal cities of the west and middle west. He will not again be seen in New York until the fall of 1928, when he will appear in a new production.

Stark, chief deputy prosecutor, in Criminal Court Friday afternoon by Special Judge IL B. Pike, when ho suspended Judgment against Emmett Donahue, 527 E. New York St., who pleaded guilty to a blind tiger appeal. Upon the recommendation of Stark, Judge Pike named Thomas C. Whallon, defense counsel, to make monthly reports to the prosecutor's office on the way Donahue is bahvlng himself. "I am going to wipe the slate clean and let you go this time as a Christmas gitf for the little children,” said the court. However, Judge Pike held a S2OO and costs fine and 180-day Indiana State Farm sentence over Donahue’s head, should he go astray.
