$50, 000 WORTH OF CATS ENTER PERSIAN SHOW 250 Pedigreed Felines Loaf in Regal Comfort on Pillows. Bu Unltei Prssa CHICAGO, Dec. 11.—Fifty thousand dollars worth of plump, feline "mischief purred an overture today for the Chicago Persian society’s annual three-day cat show which started at the Coliseum in conjunction with the Great Midwest poultry show. Os the 280 pedigreed Toms and Tabbies that loafed in regal comfoit on thick, soft pillows, none is worth less than SIOO. Two of the royal entries are “Princess Minnie Moo” a Tortoise Shell Persian owned by Mrs. Jammes L. Murphy, Chicago, and “King Salmar” a Cream-Persian, the property of Mrs. Elizabeth L. Roland, Chicago. Each is valued at SI,OOO. After prizes have been awarded coveteous cat fanciers are expected to bid as high as $2,500 for some of the winners. A neighbor of the blue ribbon pets of Chicago society folk was “Chinese Tom," an Oriental Persian from Shanghai, owned and entered by Benjamin Hooks, a Pullman porter, who was presented with the animal by an appreciate passenger on a transcontinental train. In a separate corner of the colisium annex where the show cats are exhibited is a-group of wire cages reserved for alley cats. The nondescript pussies gracing this section were salvaged from the streets or alleys of the big city. Some were entered by boys and girls who had to raid savings banks for the low entry fee. The cats are competing for the “Maude of the Eastland Cup.”
