"You know, Aunt Sally,” said little Jack, turning to me, "that my daddjJ wants me to love my mover best, for my mover she—she is—she is—is—” He could not think of any comparison splendid enough for you, my dear, so he Just spread out his arms as far as they would go and with the most beatific expression on his face, he finished: "I love my mover so much dat I’m almost busted wiv it.” I wonder if you’d be surprised, Leslie, to know that neither of us childless women sitting there smiled, when w-e heard that baby make the greatest declaration of love that had come to thb ears of either .of us. Paula bent over and kissed little Jack’s face until he drew away from her. “I wonder if Madame Leslie knows she holds such an exalted place In her oldest son’s heart?” she asked quietly. ‘I think she does,” I returned, "and I think If you would see them together you would know that the love and adoration of the boy Is returned in the same measure to him by his mother. I have always felt that there is a bond between Leslie Prescott and her adopted son that is even deeper than the mere act of bearing him.” There! I’m not going to talk any more about this. I get sentimental as you see, and It doesn’t do any good, Leslie. I begin to pity myself, and my heart says: ‘You see what you have missed!" I am very glad you are coming back next week, for I want Paula to see that good night ceremony where Jack promises always to protect his little brother under any circumstances, because "my mover asked me to, and I will do it because I love my mover and after her my buddy.” Os course you know your mother came in yesterday. Mr. Prescott told me that she talked with you over the phone from his room. They went immediately to your house from the dock, as Jimmy Condon met them at the boat and told them of Mr. Prescott’s accident. I am going down to see her tonight. Your husband, Leslie,, told me today that Mrs. Graves is looking better than she has for years and he seemed quite happy to have her home again. There! I will not write any more, for, of course, I shall see you soon. Lovingly, SALLY. (Copyright, 1925, NEA Service, Inc.) NEXT: Letter from Mrs. Mary Alden Prescott to LesHe Prescott. Getting Even Dear Martha Lee: Igo with a fellow of 19. I am 17. He haa told me aeverai time sthat he loved me. and 1 have told him I ]ove him. Now I hear he has been saying tne sunn thing to three other girls I go with.. I wouldn't care so much only I've told him eo many times I loved him, that he probably thinks I do. and Is laughing at me. Miss Lee how con I get siren with him for making a fool of met DEEPLY HURT. It’s plan to be seen your heart isn’t hurt—Just your silly pride. Now if I wanted to be disagreeable I could say that you got what yyu deseu-ved for telling a man you loved him when you didn’t. But then I know young people are quite apt to be persuaded by another’s declaration to commit themselves. But I don’t advise ways of getting even in cases like this. Ignore the young man ts you like. But don’t put the blame on him. He hasn’t made a fool of you. You’ve made one of yourself, if any; but you’ll be making a fool of yourself if you go trying to “get even.” Forget him. Remember only that he is not worth your friendship because he Is not sincere. And remember that word "sincere" the next time.
