WOOD INVADES FLORIDA FOR G. 0. P. DRIVE Hoosier Expects to Convert ‘Darkest Democratic’ State. ' Timet Washington Bureau. IStt New York Avenue. WASHINGTON, Dec. 4.—A Republican evangel, Representative Will R. Wood of Indiana, has gone into darkest Democratic Florida, lrr the real hop 6 of conversions. Wood, chairman of the Republican Congressional Committee, which has charge of the congressional camps igns, - believes that the influx of Northerners into Florida, most of them from strongly Republican states, will in the course of time inevitably change that State from Democratic to Republican, and break open the solid South. Wood spoke at West Palm Beach Wednesday to the Republican organization members of Florida. It is understood here that the national committee has in mind reinforcing the district organizations in Florida with Northerners, executives and politicians, who will not "take a licking" as easily as has been the case in the past. Wood speaks at Birmingham, Ala., Dec. 10, to the Republicans of that State. 39 Legal Notices to enter into the active prosecution of his work immediately and complete said work *be time mentioned in the specifications. BRITISH LIFT * RUBBER EXPORT RESTRICTIONS Action May Result Tire Prices in United States. Bv United Press LONDON, Dec. 4.—The British government has removed restrictions on rubber exports from Malaya and Ceylon, an action which may result In lower motor tire prices In the United States. It was announced officially Thursday that the export limit of 85 per cent 'would be lifted for three months, beginning Feb. 1, 1926, so as to allow complete exportation. The relaxation ostensibly is due to the skyrocketing prices of recent months, but It may have been caused partly by protests and threats of retaliation from the United States, whose motorists were the sufferers from the rubber shortage imposed by the restrictions. The boost In the export limit last month doubled and trebled rubber prices. The British rubber restrictions were imposed under the Stephenson act, whereby the government was enabled to determine what par cent of normal production the various rubber producing colonies should port This plan was adopted dJP ing the post-war slump and more than demonstrated Its value when business became better. Angry tire manufacturers and others In the United States asserted that Great Britain could pay her war debt to the United States by controlling crude rubber prices, as the United States Is the principal rubber consumer of the world

SEE PROTECTION IN ROAD FIGHT -4 (Continued From Page 1) year ending last September. Legality of the position held by Earl Crawford of Milton, one of the commissioners, as garage superintendent Is also being inspected as well as alleged excessive per diem pay given to other commissioners. Orr today looked into a report that two "dinky" locomotives requisitioned by the commission from the Government had been abandoned by • the commission and are rusting away in u woods near Putnamvllle. Ralph Howard, Indiana State Farm superintendent, kold Orr the engines are in use at the farm and that they have been there for the past year. The special session was lieluEk urged upon tlie failure of County authorities to bring ford, John D. Williams, commission chairman and others, to early trial on charges growing out of a county grand jury investigation several months ago. His Statement Borns' statement follows: “My experience during the Legislature and events of the last few imopths have convinced me that there is an organized attempt to shield the members of the State highway commission. "I believe that certain men In high places who now hold office or who have held office are Interested In blocking a thorough and systematic search Into the affairs of the commission. "All the powers that rule the Republican party were called Into play when members of the Marlon County delegation In the laat General Assembly sought to Investigate the commission, the movement be. ing crystalized In a resolution Introduced by H. Walker De Haven. "We witnessed the unusual spectacle of the Speaker of the House o( Representatives yielding his chair ti halt this maneuver. Many Complaints “I have been swamped with cor4 plaints from persons not only In 114 but over the State prtesting against the manner In whirl the commission has conducted it 4 affairs. This experience has atfßt happened to a number of other rW* resentatives. "During the last few month* many Legislators have visited Indianapolis and conferences have been held with a view of taking some action to Insure that this Investigation shall proceed. Personally I am In favor of a special session of the General Assembly to clearly investigate this commission. While the cost might seem to preclude this possibility I believe that the taxpayers might save money In the long run.” Clark Undecided Clark’s statement follows: "In considering the State highway commission situation we must take into consideration the fact that the statute of limitations for legal prosecution may expire before affairs of that body are fairly aired. "The movement to Investigate the commissions was started because It was deemed necessary, but was halted probably for political purposes. “On the other hand a special eeasion of Legislature would cost a lot of money and I have not yet determined whether I will support a movement to that end.” SERVICES ARE PLANNER Services at Beth-El Congregation will be held Friday evening at Bundown. The religious forum Friday evening will be cnoducted by Rabbi Goodman at 8:15 p. m. The lecture will be on "The Maccabees." Saturday morning service will be held at 8 a. m. with the sermon on "Friendship." Beth-El Bible class meets at 8 p. m. Monday and Elements of Hebrew will meet at 8:15 p. m. Wednesday.
