DAY LETTER FROM SALLY ATHERTON TO LESLIE PRESCOTT Your husband expressly asked everyone in the office and house not to write you about his accident. It was very painful but not serious. He was deathly afraid It would get in the papers, beside worrying you. Cannot express myself about Mrs. Prescott, Sr., in a telegram. Letter following. Mr. Prescott thinks he will be able to come to the office tomorrow. Am glad you understood his mother’s communication. Am writing a long letter tonight, for as long as you have gotten the garbled version that I know that old woman has sent you, you might as well know the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Don’t *come home until you feel you can leave Mrs. Burke. John Is getting along splendidly. Sydney Carton Is with him. Lovingly, SALLY. DAY LETTER FROM HANNAH SMITH TO MRS. JOHN ALDEN PRESCOTT Am sorry to bother you with household troubles but I have had another controversy with Mr. Prescott’s mother. Ever since Miss Perier has been here she has called upon the children every day. I have never seen anyone who seemed to love children so well. Mr. Prescott told me to allow her to see the children at any time, although his mother seems to think you would not like it. What shall I do about It? HANNAH SMITH. TELEGRAM FROM MRS. JOHN ALDEN PRESCOTT TO HANNAH SMITH Miss Perier Is to be treated with the courtesy due to any of my other friends and allowed to see the children any time she wishes. I am coming home next week especially to give a party tn her honor. Am homesick for the babies. Give little
