POTATO PRICES OUT OF SIGHT Indications Point to Higher Winter Crop. Bu Times Special WASHINGTON, Nov. 20.—Potatoes have joined the high-cost-of-liv-ing' -procession. Potatoes are higher now than at any time since the war period and indications are they will be much higher before the winter ends. Reduced acreage, a small croi\ and early frosts and snows throughout the Northern States are a chain of circumstances which combine to make potatoes a luxury in many households. “Even during fall months of the war, period and following the light crop of 1919, country dealers were getting from 20 to 50 cents less a hundred pounds than at present,” says Crops and Markets. Oct. 1 there were 344,227,000 bushels of potatoes in sight, according to the crop reporting board of the Department of Agriculture, on an estimated acreage of 3,453,000.
