POfTESS TALKS TO PRESS CLUB Cincinnati Woman Speaker at Luncheon. George Elliston of the Cincinnati Tlmes-Star, Cincinnati, Ohio, a poetess, whose three books of poems have been successful, was the speaker and guest of honor at the regular monthly luncheon of the Woman's Press Club Tuesday at the Claypool. Miss Elliston, besides reading some of her poems, described the work of poetry magazines. Miss Elliston edits “The Gypsy,” a poetry magazine. A musical program was given by Mme. Clara Bloomfield, Terre Haute, Ind., soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Simon Kiser. Mrs. Oliver P. Coe, Cincinnati, was a special guest. Mrs. Julian D. Hogate, Danville, Ind., president, presided. FORTUNE IS RE-ELECTED Chairman of Ked Cross Chapter Renamed for Post. William Fortune today resumed > his office as chairman of the Indianapolis chapter of the American Red Cross following his re-election Monday at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. Other officers re-elected: The Rev. Francis H. Gavlsk, vice chairman; Frank S. Stalnaker, treasurer, and Miss Agnes Cruse, secretary. Fortune named an executive committee consisting of L. C. Huesmann, James W. Fesler, Mrs. Hugh McGlbeny, E. H. McComb, Mrs. Wolf :4ussman, Eugene C. Foster and Rabbi M. M. Feuerllcht. 30ARD MAKES CHANGES Firemen Are Promoted and Reduced —Patrolman Appointed. Fireman William H. Miller was promoted to lieutenant and Lieut. Charles Shank promoted to captain by the board of safety today. Capt. Charles Britton was reduced ~o private. Ernest Delong, H. A. Brandes and Sari Gossard were named substitute tlremen, subject to call. Harry E. Voorhis was appointed a patrolman. Charges of conduct unbecoming a lireman were placed against George Tuck, substitute, by Chiefs John O’Brien. He is alleged to have been drunk.

Negus, clerk at the Indiana Boys’ School, Plainfield, reported to police today that Edward Alexander, 14, ran away from the school. Officers were asked to watch homes of relatives here. A letter from Fairmont, W. Va., asks that a lookout be kept for a young couple, Rector Wade, and Madge Thomas, said to have left there in a Ford coupe Saturday. EUGENE STREET SUIT VENUED Case Taken to Danville Circuit Court. Final hearing on a petition filed in Superior Court Four by Eugene St. property owners to restrain the city from assessing them for Btreet improvements, will be held in Circuit Court at Danville, Ind., Judge Clinl ton H. Givan ruled today. Change of venue was asked by Frank Lingenfelter, city engineer, a defendant. Property owners allege specifications for the street were not fulfilled by the Roscoe-Butner Company, another defendant. Other defendants are William Armitage, Republican political bossg Mayor Shank, and board of works members. All have filed formal denials to charges of Irregularities in letting city contracts.
SEEK BOND COLLECTION I Four Complaints Filed by Deputy County Prosecutor. Robert L. Brokenburr, deputy county prosecutor, today filed four complaints to collect SSOO on appeal bonds in Superior Courts. Defendants were persons who appealed their cases from city court and failed to appear in Criminal Court, and their bondsmen. Defendants were: Paul Jones. Thomas Whitlock. Alex Butler, James R. English, Sam Farb, Jesse Brown, John W. Rhodehamel, Mary Rapla, Joe Dugan and Eli Gmil. PATROLMAN SUSPENDED Found Guilty By Board on Charges of Unbecoming Conduct. Patrolman Fred Judkins today was found guilty by the board of safety on charges of conduct unbecoming an officer and suspended ten days dating from Nov. 1. Judkins admitted having been drunk. Mayor Shank asked charges of neglect of duty be withdrawn. TO EQUIP DENTAL UNIT City Hospital Division to Be Helped by Indianapolis Society. The Indianapolis Dental Society will equip the new dental unit at the city hospital, it was announced Monday night at a meeting of the society at the Lincoln. The equipment, ,to cost $1,500, will be installed Immediately. The annual society clinic will be held at the Lincoln Jan. 11.
