Colonial Will Present Phantom of the Opera’
in ‘‘The Phantom of the Opera,” Universal’s production of Gaston Le Roux’s novel, which opens at the Colonial Sunday, represents a ‘‘Chamber of Mystery” devised by the Phantom, in vyhich his victims are placed and subjected to ingenious tortures. The construction of this setting presented many new problems in photography, and anew type of camera had to be devised, as well as unusual methods of lighting and staging. The chamber consists of a large room in hexagonal shape, the walls of which are heavy mirrors. By a series of multiple reflections, the room may be made to appear, to those inside it, an African jungle filled with ferocious beasts, a pleasant forest filled with shade trees, or any other kind of landscape. In the picture the phantom has captured the young hero, and the Persian. They are placed in the Chamber of Mystery, which is then made to seem an interminable African forest. For these scenes five lions, three tigers and several elephants, hyenas and other animals had to be specially trained. Terrific heat comes from yie ceiling of the room until the prisoners In Big Movie ; V Ml John Gilbert Co-starred with John Gilbert in Eric Von Stroheim’s production, “The Merry Widow,” screened from the romantic comic opera. Mae Murray has the role of the Irish-Ameri-can dancer, who, wooed and won by the impetuous Prince Danilo, becomes queen of the little European country of Monteblanco. Gilbert is, of course, the dashing Prince. The picture will be next week’s attraction at the Apollo. \ Painful Rheumatic - Swellings Disappear Discoverer Tells Druggist Not to Take a Cent of Anyone’s Money Unless AUenrbu Completely Banishes All Rheumatic Pains and Twinges. James H Allen of 26 Forbes St., Rochester, N. Y., suffered for years with rheumatism. Many times this terrible disease left him helpless and unable to work. He finally decided, after years of ceaseless study, that no one can be free from rheumatism until the accumulated impurities, commonly cnl'ed uric acid deposits, were dissolved in the joints and muscles and expelled from the body. With this idea in mind he consulted physicians, made experiments and finally compounded a prescription that quickly and completely banished every sign and symptom of rheumatism from his system. He freely gave his discovery, which he called ALLENRIIU, to others who took It, with what might be called marvelous success. After years of urging he decided to let sufferers everywhere know about his discovery through the newspapers. He has therefore instructed Hook’s Dependable Drug Stores, Hang Drug Company, Goldsmith's Drug Stores and druggists everywhere to dispense ALLENRHIj with the understanding that if the first pint bottle does not show the way to complete recovery he jjdll gladly return your money without comment.— Advertisement.

are almost dying for water. Then the scene suddenly changes to a quiet forest dell with a sparkling pool in the center. The prisoners rush for the water, which immediately disappears. The Chamber of Mystery in the story is located flve stories below the Paris Opera House, on the shore of a vast subterranean lake. An exact replica of the opera house, in full size and detail, was built for this production, these sets being the largest ever made. Rupert Julian directed “The Phantom of the Opera” and Lon Chaney stars in the role of the phantom. Many Philbin and Norman Kerry are the young lovers, and they are supported by a cast of 5,000 people. •I- -I- -!- TWO FEATURE ACTS AT PALACE Captain Kidd and his bold men come to the Palace today with their picturesque song and dance fantasy which shares headline hoifors with “Willie’s Reception," a miniature musical comedy offering. The pirates number four men and one woman. The men sing and their partner weaves her dances throughout the piece. Wille St. Clair who has been featured with many of Broadway’s musical comedy hits, furnishes the comedy bits of his “Reception” which introduces several of the latest steps and popular songs. Characterization of different song numbers which he has composed are given by Charles Olcott. Edyth<
