ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL WILL BE ON AIRJFRIDAY Victor Herbert Ensemble Again to Be on Times Program. TEMOR TO GIVE SOLOS Novelty Saw Entertainer on This Week’s Bill. Entertainment for the whole family will be found on The Indianapolis Times radio program Friday night over WFBM, Merchants Heat and Light Company, from the Severin. Among the artists will be the Victor Herbert Ensemble, who have delighted radio fans on other Times’ programs: George W. Kadel, Indianapolis tenor, with Berta Miller Ruick at the Baldwin grand, and Harvey W. Wright, 2710 Boulevard PI., novelty entertainer, George Kadel brings to the radio party a wonderful voice which has won him honor not only in this country but in Europe. He was selected as one of the soloists for the opening of the Pershing Theater at Chaumont, France. He has appeared in many recitals in this city and has been honored on the Pacific coast. At the Piano During Kadel’s group of songs Berta Miller Ruick, pianist, will be at the Baldwin grand. This artist is so closely identified with music in this city that she needs no further introduction. The Victor Herbert Ensemble, composed of Indianapolis musicians, who play for pleasure and musical advancement, have become favorites over the radio. E. E. Kernel', again will conduct the orchestra. Edmund Leane will play flute and piccolo solos during the program. Miss Eileen Leane, pianist for the Accompanist for Tenor Berta Miller Ruick When George Kadel, tenor, sings a group of songs over WFBM, Merchants Heat and Light Company, Friday night on The Times' program, Berta Miller Ruick, noted pianist, will be at the Baldwin Grand. ensemble, will be at the piano. Leane’s numbers will include “The Nightingale,” and “Through the Air.” For the first group, the Victor Herbert Ensemble will play “The Panama Exposition,” and "The New Era Overture.” The second number will be “Dance,” from “Henry VIII.” Next Group Their next group will include “The Rose of Algeria,” and “The Bostonians.” Their other numbers will be made up of request numbers. Harvey W. Wright, novelty entertainer of this city, will bring his musical saw and one string broom violin to the Severin studio. His program, will be full of novelty. He will play on the hand saw,” Let Me Call You Sweetheart” and “Southern Melodies,” a medley. On the one string broom, Wright Will play “A Dream” and “Miserere” from “II Trovatore.” Here Is a real novelty that will prove a delight over the radio. This Times’ program begins promptly at 9 p. in. The piano used in all numbers is a Baldwin Grand. GETS UNIQUE PRESENTS Station KOA officials have a collection of novelty souvenir presents which have been sent to them dui*ing the past few months by radio fans. The most valuable of these, it is said, Is a gold nugget received from a California audience.

Tenor Responds to Calls I^ George VV. Kadel Radio patrons of Times’ programs have asked for tenor solos and on Friday night over WFBM, Merchants Heat and Light Company, George W. Kadel, a singer of recognized ability, will sing a group of songs. cfuoio hJy ■ maSm^ Anew Class B station will take the air in Baltimore within a week or two. The station, which is just being completed by the Gas and Electric Company, will have a call of WBAL, and, it is understood, will operate on 25G meters, with 1,500 watts power. Class B Station KFRU, at Bristow, Okla., has been closed down and Its call signal assigned to Stephens College at Columbia, Mo. ft is understood that the Etherical Radio Corporation at Bristow is contemplating the erection of anew and more powerful station, which will be called “The Voice of Oklahoma.” The new KFRU, Stephens College, will operate on 499.7 with 500 watts power. Station WJAZ, Chicago, has appointed E. Warren K. Howe musical director. Mr. Howe will arrange and conduct his first program Thursday evening, Nov. 5, between the hours of 10 and midnight. He Is a singer of note and teacher of voice, as well as conductor of light opera and oratorio. He has had at various times under his baton, in conjunction with musical festivals, the country’s best artists and the New York Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra seven times. A record in broadcasting the voice of President Coolidge has been established by Station WRC in transmitting three of the President’s addresses within eight days. October 20 WRC broadcast the President’s, message to the National Council of Cmgregational Churches, In session at Washington, Oct. 24 it also broadcast the President’s address before the International Convention of Y. M. C. A., and on the 28th the President’s speech at the ceremonies arranged for the unveiling of tilt statue of General Jose San Martin was picked up and transmitted through WRC's microphones. A fourth address by the President will be broadcast by WRC Dec. 24, when it will pick up the ceremonies at the capital’s community Christmas tree.

You can improve radio programs by writing to the Indianapolis Times Radio Department, just what you think of the things you hear on your receiver. Letters will be printed every Thursday with the name of the writer if you so desire. The chief object of a broadcasting station is to please those who listen in. LITTLE THEATRE TO BROADCAST WEEKLY First Play Will Be Put on Air at 8:15 Friday Evening— Light Pieces t p Be Featured.

At 8:15 Friday night the Little Theatre Society of Indiana will broadcast the farce, "What’s Wrong,” by Mrs. Eugene Fife, over METROPOLITAN SCHOOL ON AIR Music Instructors and Students Aid WFBM. The Metropolitan School of Music in Indianapolis will broadcast concerts by faculty members and advanced students over WFBM. The first program was on the air Nov. 4at 8 p. m. This will be followed by a concert at the same hour the first Wednesday evening of each month. WFBM, the Merchants Heat and Light Company station, from the Indianapolis Athletic Club, as the first of a series of Little Theatre weekly programs, John B. Reynolds, president, announced through Tom C. Polk, program director of WFBM. The Little Theatre plans to broadcast chiefly farces, playlets and short sketches in which dialog is paramount. The program is unique in broadcasting, as it will be the only regular presentation of a Little Theatre performance. George Somnes, director, placed Miss Elizabeth Bogert Schofield in change of Friday’s program. As it has been developed by Robert Miller, assistant to Polk, the program will be shaped according to the wishes of those who tune in on them. It is the wish to present programs of interest to the greatest number of persons. All suggestions should be addressed to the Little Theatre, 1846 Ogden St. John MePhee, WFBM announcer, will be at the microphone.
