Do You Know? The street commissioner’s department must concentrate upon repairs to streets, with little atention to alleys, because funds are nearly exhausted.
Let Mr. Fixit tell .vour tale to city officials. He is The Times representative at the dty hall. Write him at The Times. Eleven letters came rolling in today for Mr. Fixit. It was a red letter day and Mr. Fixit’s statement. "Keep the letters coming” is here by reiterated. DEAR MR. FIXIT: l wish to thank you for putting the light at Manker and McKinley Sts. We sure appreciate it and if you ever run for office, I sure will vote for you. I understand the people have tried to get a light there for three years.' I’m going to ask another favor. Manker St., between McKinley and Nelson Sts. is in a terrible condition. When "my husband came in from the road Saturday he got stuck in the mud and it was three hours before he got out. The mud was up to the hub of the wheel. MRS. M. CLIFFORD. 2745 Manker Ave. Mr. Fixit is pondering running for dog catcher and will appreciate your vote. W. P. Hargon clerk of the street commissioner’s office, has promised to remedy this situation as soon as poissble. Hargon also will investigate the following two complaints: DEAR MR. FIXIT—Say, have you ever been down Blaine Ave. from Howard to Minnesota Sts In place of a street, it looks like the city was trying to raise potatoes. RESIDENT. DEAR MR. FIXIT—Would the city furnish cinders or a boat to go from the street cars, as it is impossible to get any place north of W. Tenth St. on N. Ketcham St.? P. H. PERKINS, . 1148 N. Ketcham St. DEAR MR. FIXIT—I understand there isn’t any police patrol box between Forty-Eighth St. and SixtyThird St. D. C. M. Mr. Fixit. presented the situation to the board of safety and a box was ordered at Fifty-Fourth St. and Central Ave. DEAR MR. FIXIT: What is the board of safety going to do about placing a fire alarm box at New York and Meridian Sts.? The timer for those automatic signals is set on a red pedestal like the ones they place Are alarms in the downtown district. From a distance it looks as if the box was on that corner. The nearest alarm is two blocks away. No other alrms can be seen from this corner. E. J. There’s nothing to be remedied, it--appears. However, the letter has been referred to John Berry, board of safety electrical engineer.
