COFFIN GROUP EXPECTED TO GAIN VICTORY .City Council to Designate " Inspectors and Voting Places. Victory for tlic Coffin forces of Ihe Republican party is expected at a special meeting of city council tonight, -when -2D election inspectors and places for voting will be designated by that body. The defection of Councilman John K. King from the majority to the minority faction, with his announcement that he will support the Coffin program has blocked I tie move of lien 11. Clauer has submitted a list of inspectors in hopes the Democrats will have an opportunity to achieve their recommendations. Garters Lure Pastor From Pulpit Snapping Sophronia’s Costs ‘ldeal Preacher’ His Job.

It was dark, says Miss Sophronia Bower, when a man entered as she watched a movie and occupied the next seat. Apparently it was not too dark to find Sophronia’s garter, for very shortly she felt a tugging at it. The freshie w r as stretching the garter and letting it fly back “kersnap” at Sophronia’s silk-stockinged leg. Sophronia says she tried to remove her leg from the scene of hostilities and when this failed, hit him in the face. But the snapping continued and Miss Bower ran to the street to ask a policeman to arrest the gent. The policeman complied and w’ho should it turn out to be but the Rev. Mr. Bolster, known all over town as an “ideal pastor.” There were strenuous efforts toward secrecy when it became known who had i been snapping Sophie's garter and the Rev. Mr. Bolster was given a secret hearing, after which he was released from

Sitting as special judge in a court for the first time in his forty-four years of practice at the Cass County bar, Albert Gall Jenkins discharged the defendant in a liquor case despite a plea of guilty which had been entered. Jenkins held that the affidavit was faulty, a fact not discovered by the attorney for Grover B. Goodale, 45, Jenkins, who friends say is a living image of Abraham Lincoln, is widely known In northern Indiana as a criminal lawyer.
GERMAN REDS WIN AT POLLS Hindenburg Refuses to Let Ministers Quit. Hu I'nitfd Press BERLIN, Oct. 26.—President Von Hindenburg today refused to accept the resignations of two of three Nationalist cabinet members who resigned Sunday. He urged them to stay as “expert ministers” without distinct party lines. The resignations were a result of Nationalist opposition to ratification of the Locarno security pact. If Hlndenburg's refusal is successful in retaining the ministers and they submit to his policies the pact will be ratified. In city elections Sunday, Berlin voted red. amid violence, tumult, and battle. Sticks and stones drove crowds of voters from the polls as a Communist city council was elected.
