COLUMBIA CLUB DINNER BRINGS REAL HARMONY Shank and Watson Become Friendly at Dedicatory Celebration. So harmonious was the dedicatory dinner for the new Columbia Club Saturday night that it reconciled Senator James E. Watson, principal speaker, and Mayor Samuel Lewis Shank, who a few months ago swore he would capture the Watson scalp in the senatorial contest next spring. Following an extensive personal conversation at the dinner where Watson and Shank were seated in adjoining chairs, the two G. O. P. phieftains ambled down the corridors arm in arm. "Aw, Jim's a pretty good'’fellow,” Shank said. In Line With Address The apparent burial of the hatchet was In line with the theme of Sen-
Sour Stomach “Phillips Milk of Magnesia” Better than Soda
Instead of soda hereafter take a little “Phillips Milk of Magnesia” in water any time for indigestion or sour, acid, gassy stomach, and relief will come instantly. For fifty years genuine “Phillips Milk of Magnesia” has been prescribed by physicians because it overcomes three times as much acid in the stomach as a saturated solution of bicarbonate of soda, leaving the stomach sweet and free from all gases. It neautralizes acid fermentation in the bowels and gently urges the souring waste from the system without purging. Besides, it is more pleasant to take than soda. Insist upon “Phillips.” Twenty-five-cent bottles, any drug store. —Advertisement.

Pony Express riders were the only of communication between the East and West in the early days, the country at that time was undergoing a titanic political upheaval due to the slavery issue and strenuous efforts Were being made to swing California to the Southern cause and it was largly through the instrumentality of the Pony Express tha.t the Golden State was saved to the Union Cause. Competent lodges will be appointed who will have charge of awarding all of the prizes and will be announced Iti a later issue.
