Twenty-seven members of the Arsenal Cannon staff together with the staff sponsor. Miss Ella Sengenberger, will attend the fourth annual convention of the Indiana High Hchool Press Association at Frankkin College, Oct. 22-24. " The delegates will register at Franklin College on Friday morning. Following this, most of the day will be taken up with group conferences and special meetings, The annual convention banquet will bet held Friday at G p. m. Miss Ella Sengenberger will preside at the faculty breakfast Saturday morning. Election of officers, adoption of resolutions, etc. will ocupy the most of Saturday afternoon. The True Blue Club is givthg a party for 100 out-of-town girls in the gym Friday afternoon.— -Fae Houston, leader of this department, and Mrs. Della Thompson are in charge of arrangements. All out-of-town girls who were not invited through some member of the committee are welcomed as honor guests. The first girls’ debate of the year was held on the question: Resolved "That the Government Should Own and Operate the Coal Mines.” The captain of the affirmative team was Belle Kaufman, and her assistants were Ruth Lewis and Arta Weyaat. Helen McCoy was captain of the negative team, and other members were Valentia Meng and Helen Hill. The negative team won. Another debate is to be held on the subject under the “Resolved, That the Public Opion Should Support the Policy of the Closed Shop. On the affirmative team are Nellie Munson, captain and Helen Hyde and Mary Alice Sheffel. The negative team is

Orvis, head of the Indiana University Extension Division, and a teacher of English in the Extension School, addressed the Shortridge Fiction Club. The fall enrollment of Shortridge has just been announced .as 2,494. The increase in attendance of tlie hoys was 24 per cent and of the girls 13 per cent.
