FIRE DISTRICT IS ESTABLISHED headquarters Will Be at Station No. 28. Establishment of a fire district, with headquarters at Station 28, was under way today following action es the board of safety Tuesday. Result will be addition of a battalion chief and two chauffeurs to the department. The board also voted recommendation to the board of works of erection of three fire stations, at Forty-Sixth and Illinois Sts., FiftyFirst St. and College Ave. and on E. Michigan St. in Irvington. Members agreed to recommend the city council purchase of a 1,000-gallon purpper. On recommendation of Fire Chief John J. O’Brien, the board voted to install fire boxes, as follows: ThirtyFiftK and Evergreen, Thirty-Eighth St. and Guilford Ave., Fifty-Second St. and Guilford Ave., Forty-Third and Broadway, Fifty-Sixth St. and Central Ave., Forty-Sixth St. and Central Ave., Forty-Eighth St. and Central Ave., Forty-Sixth and Meridian Sts., P'ifty-Seventh St. and College Ave., Fifty-Second and Meridian Sts., Forty-Fourth St. and Capitol Ave., Catherine Ave. and Roosevelt St., and Speedway and Tibbs Aves.

STREETS PREFERENTIAL Two Special Thoroughfares Created by Board of Safety. Two preferential streets were created by the board of safety Tuesday. They are E. New York St., from Alabama St., to the Monon Railroad, and Northwestern Ave., from Fall Creek Blvd. to ThirtySixth St. The board established safety zones at E. Washington and Oriental Sts. CHARLESTON IS IN DANGER HERE Building Inspector Plans to Investigate Dance. The Charleston, as an Indianapolis dance institution, IS in danger. Francis F. Hamilton, city building inspector, said today he had received word from other cities that building inspectors have banned that energetic dance because the combined gymnastics of hundreds of dancers shake buildings and create a danger. Hamilton said he would Investigate any instances of Charleston dancing in unsafe structures. ' “There are a lot of flimsily built dance halls that might be shaken excessively by the Charleston,” Hamilton commented.

Three men today sit in the deathhouse at the Indiana State Prison here watching the slow movement of the hands of the clock which ticks away their life. The first of the, three tffll begin the death march Friday morning. This man is John Koval, a Russian, who was convicted on the murder of his landlady. The second man is Edward Bar ker of Terre Haute, whose execution is set for Dec. 18. Barker was convicted, together with Joe Parker, for the murder of a policenfan. Anew trial recently was granted Barker and Barker believes that he will escape death chair by the same means. The third man, only a recent arrival, is Edward Stewart, Indianapolis, colored, who will die on Jan. I*s for the murder of Ralph Cunningham of Advance, Ind. WORKER BURIED ALIVE Du Timm tivrcinl * LOGAN SPORT, Ind,, Oct. 14. Bruce Ide, 2, was buried glive in a gravel car which he was loading. Fellow workers dug his body out several minutes later.
