DUVALL HAILED A LA COMJME Guided by Same Principles, Says Updike. John L. Duvall. Republican nominee for mayor, has taken far his guidance the principles of Calvin L’oolidge, Representative Ralph E. Updike declared at a meeting of Kingan & Cos. employes today. TJuyaft recognized the reality of . the situation when he told people more public improvements mean higher t.axes, but pledged his administration to a program of reduced taxes, if possible, Updike said. “John Duvall will be a mayor in fact as in name," said Updike. “This he pledges in his keynot address and he also has told the voters he will take the policee and fire departments out of politics.” Updike praised President Coolidge, who he said had saved $300,000,000, and the State administra:ion for its program of economy. KING CASE SET OCT. 16 Motion to Dissolve Restraining Order to He Heard Then. Special Judge Oren S. Hack, named to hear a petition for a permanent restraining order to prevent members of the State board of health from meeting to consider charges of malfeasance in office on the part of Dr. William P. King, secretary, today set Oct. 16 as the date for hearing on a motion to dissolve the restraining order. Motion was filed Thursday with Judge Hack by attorneys for the board. The restraining order was granted some time ago by Judge Clinton H. Givan of Superior Court Four, where the hearing will be heard. Motion charged facts alleged in the petition were insufficient to constitute a good cause for action, and that the board had power to dismiss the secretary from office after a hearing. Dr. King is alleged to have raised salaries of employes under him without authority from the board. FESTIVAL WILL CLOSE lewisli Congregations io End Special Services.
