BUTTER PRICE TAKES JUMP Wholesale price on creamery butter In Indianapolis has jumped 4 to 6 cents within the last week, according to creamery companies. The present price is 54 cents against 50 and 48 cents last week. The hot, dry summer caused a shortage ot cream, which resulted in a butter shortage. These factors combined to make butter prices higher this summer than last. Merchants believed prices would slump in the fall and allowed their stock on hand to become depleted. The price did not drop auid purchases were made at higher prices, dealers said. The future price trend Is in doubt.

Only three States exceeded Indiana in the amount ot gasoline tax collected during the first half of 1925. Indiana with a 3-eent tax collected $3,214,588. With a 2-cent tax, California collected $7,614,667; Pennsylvania, $4,657,672, and Michigan, $3,386,600. Total collection for the entire nation was $60,108,734, of which $63,814,240 will be applied to road work. There are now 523.783 automobiles registered in Indiana. Ten other States have a larger registration. New York leading with 1,404,635. New York collects no gasoline tax, however.
