BROWN EVENING CLOTHES FIXES AS FALL STYLE flaggy Pants to Remain for Sport Wear, Paris Decrees. B:l Vnitrd I’rcsx PARIS, Sept. IS.—The taste of men this autumn is decidedly dark brown. That is, sartorially speaking, of course. From head to foot the well-dressed man will be a symphony in brown. Never in the memory of the oldest inhabitant of that-smart triangle between the Rue de la Paix and Boulevards has there been such a decided movement toward a brighter color in njasculine wear. Men’s clothes in general are falling away from the hard and fast rules and aro approaching some expression in color and tone as well as comfort. Black for formal evening wear started to give way to dark blue last season, .but for this winter Paris tailors are encouraging- the smart man to wear an evening dress suit in dark brown. The principal men’s tailoring firm of Paris declares that already 200 evening dress suits have been ordered in cloth of that color. Mad About Brown Both Paris and Rondon seem to have gone made on brown coloring, and it is seen in all possible shades, from an almost cream color to tobacco tone. Fall top mats are of any material, so long as it is brown.

Disputes Right of Way With Locomotive
This Philadelphia street car was overturned and almost cut in two when a Pennsylvania railroad freight engine struck it at a crossing. Five people were injured.
The smarest of the lot is form-fitting with a browV velvet collar just a few shades darker than the body material. It is extremely effective and very fashionable. One very clever combination seen on the Boulevards and also in Ron.don is a double-breasted form-fitting brown reefer coat in anew shade approaching beige, with brown flannel trousers. While this would seem to be essentially a beach costume, it is quite surprising to see how many of these combinations are worn in town. For the most parts coats are double-breasted, for it appears this form has returned to favor. Bag rants to Stay For evening wear the proper thing is a dinner jacket with a white

double-breasted straight-out waistcoat and white tie. These combinations are seen in all the smart hotels and clubs, as well as the supper and dancing places. The “Oxford bags,’’ started' as .a prank, but they will will be with us this winter as a fixed feature of men’s fashions. It has been decreed by the Rondon tailors, and as no self-respecting Beau Brummel or Paris tailbr would dare defy their proclamations, that not only the giddy youth, but the austere business man shall wear large and voluminous trousers. Twentytwo Inches for the college boy and twenty inches for the ordinary citizen. An excellent oil for airplane engines is made from locusts.

TIN CAN ORGAN USED IN CHINA Unique Creation Lures Soldiers to Chapel. B>) Time* Bnrrial TIENTSIN. China, Sept. 17. "Canned music’’ has taken on anew meaning in far-off China. Now the old mind-picture of phonograph, earnest missionary, and squatting circle of heathens once evoked by the term has been replaced by one in which the "heathens” wear khaki and brass buttons. The new picture is the work of a regular Army sergeant of the Quartermaster Corps, on duty with the American forces in China. From discarded tin cans he built a pipe organ. * In tailed, after elaborate camou-
