HISTORIC FALLS TO BE STUDIED AT STATE MEET \ Future of Kentucky Beauty Spot Rests in Hands of Committee. Bv Tim fa Special MADISON, Ind., Sept. 11.— Whether historic Cumberland Falls, In Kentucky, should be saved as a State park or sacrificed for hydroelectric power will be discussed at the four-States conservation meeting at Cllfty Falls Park,.near here, Oct. 15 and 16. Cumberland Falls is situated so remotely that few Kentuckians have seen it, although it has been a summer resort, with limited patronage, since before the Civil War. A prospective power dam above the falls would carry the waters of Cumberland River through to a point trelow and destroy the beauty of the natural wonder. The National Conference for State Parks has become interested in the imp—'ing extinction of Cumberland Falls. Richard Ueber, director of the Indiana department of conservation, was in Louisville today in conference with Tom Wallace, a member of the general council of the National Conference on Outdoor Recreation, as to the programs for the four States meeting at Cllfty Falls. It was agreed that Cumberland Falls would be discussed fully at the meeting. Liebsr, said that conservationists did not agree with the contention of promoters of* hydroelectric projects that the development of streams for power increased t.hsir recreational value. The lakes created, he said, do not., in most instances, constitute compensation for the streams that are lost. In 1875 she gave up piano teaching to teach the intricacies of the newly invented mt.chine. THREE GENERATIONS OF WOMEN Since the 'humble origin of Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound in 1881, made on a kitchen stove, three genera‘ions of women have used this old-f ishioned root and herb remedy for th-*lr ailments with wonderful success. Very often we hear of families where the grandmother, mother and daughter testify to its virtue.
