BUSSES CROWD FREIGHTS OUT Pennsylvania Division Discontinues Trains. i "With the advent of the motor bus, transportation facilities have been revamped. \ On Sept. 1 local freight trains were discontinued oii,th< Madison division of the Pennsylvania Lines, the oldest railroad west of the Alleghenies. All shipments under 4,000 pounds are hauled in a box car, attached to the passenger train, which leaves Columbus at 0:35 a. m. and Madison at 2:55 p. m. Ono trip each way is made every day except Sunday by a straight passenger train. A. D. Conner, supervising agent of the Indianapolis division, said passenger business had dropped off 60 per cent in the past year, due to bus competition. Residents along the old “pan-handle” line, consider the change a step backward. TALCI \J POWDER OTTAWA, Canada Talc and soapstone production in Canada during 1924 amounted to 11,332 tons, valued at $154,480, as against 10,366 tons the year before, valued at $150,000. MINE ACCIDENTS TAKE BIG TOLL Sullivan Disaster Swells Total for Year. Mino accidents claimed more than twice as many lives in Indiana for the year ending Sept. 1 as were lost during the year ending Sept. 1, 1924, Albert Dally, chief State mine inspector, said today. Forty-eight miners died in accidents and explosions in the year ending Sept. 1, 1924. For the twelve months Just ended the toll was 99. The Sullivan mine explosion, when flfty-orte perished, was responsible for the increase. Fifteen miners died in smaller explosions and thirty-three were killed in accidents incident to underground labor. Greater care and safety appliances is reducing accidents. It is expected the number killed during the next year will be less. It’s Your Own Fault if you suffer with your Stomach.
