BOOST FOR SOFT COAL 1 Anthracite Strike May Revive Indiana Mines. Bu Times Special TERRE HAUTE, Ind., Sept. 3. The strike of miners in the anthracite coal • industry will prove profitable to Indiana miners and operators, if the strike continues over thirty days, it was revealed today by Tyler G. Lawton, president District 11, United Mine Workers of America. He reported that bituminous mines in Sullivan County have received large contracts and are enjoying a complete revival. At present there are more than twenty mines working two to three days a week in the Terre Haute district, it was reported. MULE BARN SHORTAGE Walker Reports to Board of Works Following Search. John F. Walker, street cleaning superintendent, reported a stable shortage in Indianapolis to the board of works Wednesday, following his search for three barns to shelter mules now kept at the city barns at Shelby St. and Fountain Sq. Despite Walker’s assertions that business men in that neighborhood were opposed to vacating the bams as ordered by the board, members refused to alter their decision. P. O. RECEIPTS INCREASE Indianapolis postoffice receipts for August were $331,856.14 as compared with $309,306.56 in August, 1924, an increase of 7.29 per cent, or $22,549.58, Postmaster Robert H. Bryson said today.
