STREETLIGHTS ARE REQUESTED BY SOUTH SIDE Citizen Assails Policy of City In Letter to Mr. Fixit. Mr. Fixit appreciates the confidence Times readers have demonstrated by entrusting their complaints to him. If you have any affairs with city officials, let him help you. Write him at The Indianapolis Times. Mayor Shank’s administration Is assailed for failure to appropriate ample funds for* supplying badly needed street lights In a letter Mr. Fixit received today from a resident of English Heights. DEAR SIR: We, the people of English Heights addition, boosters for a Great Indianapolis, reading today’s Fixit, see a request for an eleotrlo light at the corner of Graham Ave. and Pleasant Run Blvd. Wo see your answer that the city is broke. Is the taxpayer broke? We pay taxes the eame as the people do north, who have unnecessary lights. We have none. The chief of police asks the public for help In prevention of housebreaking and other such things. Being totally dark is a perfect Invitation for such things and advantage has been taken of It a few times. It seems that the people in the south side of town should fare a little if not half with the people on the north side. The boulevards north of the city seem to be well lighted and the people cannot understand why Graham Ave. and Pleasant Run Blvd., English Heights addition, and other south side places cannot have lights. Please give us a reason. 3SOO and 3300 on English Ave., on Spann Ave., on Fletcher Ave., Hoyt Ave., Garfield Ave. and Denny Ave. have not one light. Can they say no to this request? Speaking of boosting the people of Indianapolis, certainly should thank The Times for doing their big bit by helping and printing such things as Mr. Fixit. We all thank you. NOT ONE L.IQHT. Mr. Fixit agrees that the present administration has a fallacious theory of economy in failing to provide street lights in sections where they are most necessary. His efforts to date have been fruitless, for the cry is always heard that there is no money. . Your letter will be brought to the attention of the board of works to show them evidence of dissatisfaction at the condition now existing. DEAR MR. FIXIT: School is almost ready to start and children going to School 21 living east of Christian St. to the Belt Railroad on English Ave. have no place to walk only

This complaint will be investigated by Kingston at once. -V DEAR MR. FIXIT: We of the packing house district can stand the smell of them. They are only on short wave lengths. But when they go and ski mthe muck and grease from the sewer at the end of S. West St. Then they bring It to the soap works and oh, that lingering smell! That’s too much.
Perhaps you could get >Tans What’s His Name to write out a remedy for it. He lives on South West Sfc. Yours for more fresh air around Morris and West Sts. EIGHT ROCK.
