PRIEST EXPECTS NEW $150,000 CHURCH SOON for Suburb, Says Rev. Killian. With a church, hospital, school and foundlings home already established in Beech Grove, the Catholic church has plans for more improvements which will greatly add to the northwest corner of the little city. According to Father Peter Killian, -who hits charge of the Catholic endeavors In Beech Grove, anew church building to cost $160,000 will bo erected soon. Fifty-three acres have been bought back of the hospital as a site for a girl's boarding school and university. Plans have been announced for adding- two wings -to the hospital, doubling it% capacity of 100 beds. Bishop Chartrand, in charge of the Indianapolis diocese, has bought thirty acroes on Sherman T-'r. and Southern Ave., on which, it is talked, the new cathedral High School will be located, Father Killian said. One of Pioneers Father Killian is pastor of the Holy Name Church. He is one of the pioneers of Beech Grove, having come there when the town was established in 1907. The development of his church, the Holy Name, and Its allied organizations, has been a gradual one. and the Big Four shops built, Tve acres were bought for his church. A brick dwelling house was erected, and the upstairs was used as a church until 1922. Later, seventeen lots were bought, and a combined school house and church was built. The assessed valuation of the twenty-two lots and improvements on them is now SIOO,OOO. When the schoolhouse was erected neett the parsonage in 1922, therS was a total of fifty-eight children enrolled. This Setpember, according to Father Killian, there will be 100 students. It is a grade school only. Congregation Doubles ‘‘My congregation has almost doubled within these three years, and-I plan on building a cathedral to cost not less than $150,000 to house the congregation,” he said. "T think the work will start within five years.”

Town Has Four-Man Fire Department

The fire department occupies the hack end of the Beech Grove town hall. Here is housed the $7,000 Stutz fire wagon, “Beech Grove Pumper No. 1.” Members of.the force are Chief Raymond Adair, Everett Seyler, Raymond Bartholomew and E. A. McClain. The boys have the platoon system, twenty-tour hours on and twenty-four hour off, two men at a time. All four live in the neighborhood so they can respond quickly to fire alarms while off duty. ‘‘We have two fires a month, on an average,” said Chief Adair. ‘‘So far there have been no disastrous blazes.” He looked around for some wood
