HOWLING DOGS DISTURB SLEEP , OF NEIGHBORS Mr. Fixit Receives Assurance That Hounds Will Be Investigated.
Po You Know? That it requires 2,500 people to operate the government of 350,000 residehts of Indianapolis?
Let Mr. Flxlt solve your troubles with city officials. He is The Indianapolis Times representative at the city hall. Write him at The Times. Howling hounds, expressing their displeasure at Imprisonment, have prevented sound slumber and frazzlled the nerves of residents of Asbury St., according to a complaint receivd by Mr. Fixit today. DEAR MR. FIXIT: This Is my first complaint to you, but we have reported to police several times and it doesn’t seem to do any good. In the 1500 block on Asbury S*., there are three or four dogs kept penned or tied that almost run the neighbors wild. We can’t sleep day or night for their howling and barking. THOSE WHO KNOW. Here’s hoping your slumbers will be more peaceful. Capt. Fred Drinkut promised Mr. Fixit to in- . vestlgate this condition at once. DEAR MR. FIXIT: I live at PatIterson and North Sts., where L no school at all for white children outside of the one at West and Washington Sts. I have a daughter 6 years old going to start in September. Do you think I could let her go alone up there across railroads and street car tracks? And also could a small baby carry her lunch up there? 1 Last year we had a portable school by Riley Hospital, but they tore it down on account of the hospital. There is no hope for a building nearer yourTiome, D. T. Weir, assistant superintendent of: schools, told Mr. Fixit. The school you' mentioned was closed because of insufficient attendance, according to Weir. The school board has no objection to the child bringing the lunch, but the safest route for her thould be determined. Wejr suggested via North to Blake St.,_ thence south, involving the crossing of only one street car line, the Michigan St. line. DEAR MR. FIXIT: There are several large holes in the gutter at 208 E. Twenty-Eighth St. Every time a car hits them the water and mud splash over the sidewalk. A tittle concrete is all that is necessary. D- H. J., Taxpayer. Otto J. Smelcer, superintendent of improved streets, eaid he would repair the holes as soon as his force of men has finished patching streets damaged in recent W Storms. DEAR MR. FIXIT: Would like to call your attention to the fact that btween the Belt Railroad and Sugar Grove on Eighteenth St., sn the grounds owned by /the water works, the ,v eeds are six feet high and have not ten cut for-- years. It is also being used for dumping grounds. A RESIDENT AND TIMES READER To have weeds cut, carry out the following instructions. Have the person living nearest the weedy • lots call Lincoln 3311, the city hall,' ask for street commissioner’s office and give full details to the clerk on duty. This is the only method. TEN MOTORISTS SLATED City and State Police, and Sheriff Arrest Auto Drivers. Ten auto drivers were arrested Monday night in combined efforts of city and State police and the sheriff.
