WILLIAMS WILL BE SPEAKER AT BRYAN SERVICE ——— — City to Pay Homage to Commoner at Cadle Tabernacle. Dixon C. Williams, Chicago postmaster during the Wilson Administration and for years a close personal friend of William Jennings Bryan, trill be principal speaker at Bryan memorial services at 7:30 toJiight at Cadle Tabernacle. To Read Proclamation Mayor Shank will introduce the speaker. Music will be provided by the Police and Firemen’s Band. Mrs. W. E. Duthie will give an organ recital, followed by invocation by the Rev. Augustus S. Buchanan. The Rev. Matthew Holderby will read the official Department of State proclamation on Bryan’s death. e Following the main address and a solo by Joe Overmyer, Bishop H. H. Fout of the United Brethren Church will pronounce benediction. Citizens’ Committee Members of the citizens’ committee sponsoring the Bryan memorial serviaes are: John W. Holtzman, Edward B. SEWAGE PLANT TO BE BUILT Winona Lake Will Have SIOO,OOO System. a Bn United Press WINONA LAKE, Ind., Aug. 7. Winana Lake town board is hastening preparations for construction of anew sewage disposal plant to cost nearly SIOO,OOO. Construction was agreed after a conference with Dr. William F. King, secretary State board of health. Dr. King said the plant must be constructed after investigation revealed that contamination of water at Winona Lake was responsible for a typhoid fever epidemic. Eight deaths and several hundred cases of fever resulted after the annual convention of the Church of Brethren several weeks ago. Plant will be completed before opening'of next season’s activities. WANT MORE ANNUITIES Retired Federal Employes to Consider Resolution to Congress. Retired Federal employes in Indianapolis will meet at 7:30 p. m. today in the Federal Bldg, to consider a resolution asking Congress to increase the maximum annuities to retired employes from $720 to $1,200. Representatives of other organiza-. tions will attend. James H. Deery, president of Indianapolis Branch No. 4, will preside. Each Federal employe pays 2% per cent of his salary to the fund. The average annuity is about $551.64. TO DISCUSS OPPORTUNITY State Colored Baptist Association Sessions Continue. Committee reports, and a discussion of the stewardship of opportunity will mark today’s session of the Indiana State Baptist Association, colored, convention. The Rev. J. P. Highball of Indianapolis, will preach. Reuniting of Indiana Baptists was discussed Friday. The Women’s Home and Foreign Missionary Society convention, meeting with the association, opened Friday. CHURCH WILL GIVE FETE Proceeds of Irvington M. E. •''Affair to Go to Building Fund. Members of the Irvington M. E. Church will hold a lawn fete Saturday afternoon and evening at Audubon Rd. and E. Washington St., proceeds to .go to the new church fund. Supper will be served on the grounds. The Greenfield band will play.
