Aug.-s.—Fire fighting in the nudeibecame not only an innovation but a necessity when fuming tear gas exploded in the underground vault of the chemistry building of New York College last night. Four firemen, after being badly "burned by the penetrating gas, held next to their skin by their clothing, adopted the suggest of a world war veteran and plunged into the smoking vault, stripped of clothing and shoes.
