HOSPITALS ARE NOW ADEQUATE Jhree New Veterans’ Institutions Nearly Done. Bu Times Special WASHINGTON, July 31.—World War veterans need no longer complain against hospital facilities, in the opinion of Col. William H. Conklin, acting director of the Veterans’ Bureau. The bureau is now operating 52 hospitals, either owned outright or leased, aside from contract hospitals. Construction of new hospitals with funds of the $43,450,000 appropriation contained in the three socalled Lapgley bills, has proceeded rapidly and only three more big hospitals are to be constructed in the near future. Bu Times Special MITCHELL, Ind., July 31.—New nature was pressed Into service for cold storage purposes was demonstrated today to visitors at the annual meeting of the Indiana Horticultural Society. They inspected the immense cave on the Burton farm near here where 12,000 bushels of apples were stored last year. The cave was cleared and electric lights were installed last year to make it a storage room underground. The crop of 12,000 bushels from the Buurton orchards was kept in the cave with very little spoilage.
