ROAD BUILDING PROGRESS GOOD, SAYS WILLIAMS Two Bridge Run-Arounds Lifted and One Three-Mile Detour Opened. Two bridge run-arounds have been lifted and a detour three-miles northeast of Valparaiso on road 42 has been removed following completion of road construction, according to the State highway commission’s traffic bulletin Issued today. John D. Williams, highway director, declared progress is being made at construction of both pavement and bridges and that the close of this construction season will see approximately 218 miles of new pavement open to traffic and about fifty-eight miles of new gravel and stone roads. Run-around at unsafe e two and one-half miles north of Edinburg Turn right at earner of Tipton and O’Brie Sts. in Seymour, follow marked detour via Farmington returning to No. 1 at nine and two-tenths miles north of Crothersville. Follow old State Rd. south of Crothersville. No. 3 (Richmond. Indianapolis. Terre Haute)—Bridge run-around at six miles west of Richmond. No. 6 (Madison. Greensburg. Indianapolis, Lafayette, Oxford) Povement from Indianapolis to Shelbyville with seven-mile detour around two new bridges and four-mile detour around one bridge project. Drive carefully past culvert construction one-half mile south of Greensburg. Account bridge construction detour west on Rd. 33 at Lebanon for three miles thence north and northwest on comity road throught Thorntown to a point four miles north of Thorntown. A short detour one mile further northwest. No. 12 (Vincennes. Spencer, Indianapolis) —Run-around near west edge of .ovr:** City account of culvert construction will be open on July 28. ... . No. 16 (Indianapolis, Logansport. Michigan City)—Closed for six miles south of Logansport account construction. Good detour marked. _ ~ _ No. 22 (English. Paoli. Bedford.. Bloomington. Martinsville, Indianapolis)—Between Martinsville and Bloomington.. and from English to Paoli road will be closed ail summer for paving. There is a passable detour in dry weather between these points, but it is thirteen miles long, six miles being earth. impassaDle in wet weather. crossings. Local traffic can use Leatherwood Creek detour, but must exerdse care at two narrow bridges over Leatherwood Cree kand at a Monon grade crossing. From Paoli there is a eountyfrock road to Grantsburg via Marengo and English Avoid south of Grantsburg. No 37 (Indianapolis. Anderson. Miindel —Closed from Muncte via Anderson to Pendleton for paving: detour marked No. 39 (Indianapolis. Rushvllle. Brookville. Ohio line at Harrison) —Closed between Juliette and Hawthorne (Marion County) for widening and grading. Eastbound traffic follow marked detour to south of No. 39.
