NOSSY MANHOLE COVER SUBJECT OF ‘FIXIT’ PLEA ‘Times Reader’ Also Asks That Low-Hanging Trees Be Trimmed. S. I If you need assistance from city hall officials, inform Mr. Fixit. He will help you. He is The Times representative at the city hall. Write him at The Indianapolis Times. > By Mr. Fixit' Another protest at the merry jingle of the manhole lid cover reached Mr. Fixit today. DEAR MR. FIXIT: For iome time I have noticed the good work of your department and now I wish to ask for assistance. In front of 3328 Kenwood Ave. is a manhole, the lid to which does not fit propertly. The passing of autos over-it makes a very disturbing rattle. Would appreciate your assistance in getting this lid changed. Also, isn’t there a city ordinanci providing for the trimming of trees by property owners, where the limbs overhang the sidewalk? If there is such sPn ordinance, I should surely like to see it enforced on Kenwood Ave. from Thirty-First to ThirtyFourth Sts., especially on the east ide of the street, where the branches hang very low and in the evenings after they have been eprinkled, it is very exasperating to try to pass under and I am a little less than six feet tall at that. M A TIMES READER. Walter Monroe, of the street commissioner’s department, told Mr. Fixit he would make immediate repairs. Elbert Moore, city forester, will inspect the overhanging tries, he told Mr. Fixit. DEAR MR. FIXIT: The sidewalk Wound the catch basin at the southeast corner of N. Mount and W. Ohio Sts., needs repairs badly. Will you please have it looked after. MRS. T. F. HARROLD, 69 N. 'MOUNT ST. Otto J. Smelcer, superintendent Os improved streets, will, undertake the repairs as soon as he has completed his task of reconstruction in storm-affected areas, he promised Mr. Fixit. ________ * DEAR MR. FIXIT: As you have been of so much assistance to property owners of the city, I am appealing to you for repairs on our back alley. Our lots are much higher than the ones on the south and the past heavy rains have washed the alley into a space ten feet long and about six feet deep. It Ks located at 519 W. Twenty-Eighth St., rear. Many thanks. TAXPAYER. W. P. Hargon, clerk of the street commissioner’s office, promised Mr. Fixit investigation would start within a few days. TO ARIZONA ’ST. NEIGHBORS: Captain Thomas promised

Rich Heiress Is Bride-to-Be

JBKS

Miss Muriel Vanderbilt, richest heiress in the country, is to become the bride of F. C. Church late this month. This picture was taken while she was spending her last month of sing.e life in Del Monte, Cal.

Mr. Fixit he would seek to determine what is Avrong in the house you mentioned. DEAR MR. FIXIT: There are five lots on Hanson Ave., where the weeds are over your head and it is so dark that it is dangerous to comedown the street. The water stands over the curb and has turned green. Hoping that you will have it fixed. The lots are south of New York St. about a half square. Yours till it is fixed. B. R. A FRIEND TO ADD. Hargon said the street commissioner’s force of men will attend to this matter as soon as the program of storm repairs is concluded. DEAR MR. FIXIT: Near Dearborn and Washington Sts., a garage owner has parked cars all over the street, so that we cannot gain entrance to our property. Also the horns and whistles keep us awake at all hours of the night. „ CITIZEN. Motor Policemen will investigate_ the situation you have described, Mr. Fixit was told in the traffic department.
