The father and mother were under arrest for shoplifting and didn’t tell the police where the youngsters were, it is charged, because some of their loot was in the auto.

BURIAL AT TERRE HAUTE Greencastle Masons in Charge at Rites for John M. Allen. The body of John M. Allen, 60 who died Saturday at 2327 College Ave., was taken to Terre Haute today for burial. Funeral services were held at the residenc eat 10:3C a. m. Greencastle Masons conducted burial rites. Allen had resided here fifteen years. He was born at Winnemac. The widow and two sons survive. INDIANA MASONS LEAVE Delegation Off for Annual Conclave . at Seattle, Wash. Leonidas P. Newby of Knightstown, grand master of grand encampment of Knights Templar, heads a large delegation of Indiana Masons now on their way to Seattle, Wash., to attend the annual conclave. Two special trains carried the party. Raper Communciery choir accompanied the delegation. A banquet will be given for Newby Friday at Seattle. More than 300,000,000 herrings are caught each week off Yarmouth, England.

AUTO TOLL IB STATE COUNTED AT FIVE DEAD 4 Twenty-Eight Injured in Indiana, Exclusive of Indianapolis. Indiana's week-end auto toll, exclusive of Indianapolis, was counted today at five dead and twenty-eight injured. Driving his motorcycle on the wrong side of the road on the • crowded Dunes Highway east of Gary, William James, 20, of Chicago, was struck by an auto and killed. Frank Supernas, 20, of Chicago, who was riding with him, was seriously hurt and was' taken to a hospital at Michigan City, Scooter Struck Joseph Hesford, 10, dashed in front of an auto while riding a “scooter” and was run over at Ft. Wayne. He died in a hospital. Frank Fullman, of Chicago died In a hospital at La Porte from injuries received when he was struck by an auto while bicycle riding. Mistaking the headlight of a Monon passenger train for the lights of another auto, Frank Ellis, 49, drove his auto on the tracks near Lafayette and was killed. Dies at Vedersburg Jesse Spry, 53, of Champaign, 111., lost control of his auto at Yeedersburg. The auto dashed into a curb and Spry was killed. Six other occupants of the machine were slightly hurt. Eleven were injured at Anderson when four autos were wrecked. Charles Harless, his wife and three children were seriously hurt when his auto upset after colliding with a car of Blaine McCoy. Mrs. Mabel Williams and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Williams of North Carolina, were seriously hurt in an auto crash at Newcastle. Four lowa people were hurt at La Porte. EXPLOSION IfiIURES FOUR Gasoline Tank oi/ Bus Blows I'p at Filling Station. Mrs. Sarah Ward, Apartment 216, 220 N. Illinois St.; Gerald Brickley, Greenwood, Ind.; Victor Voyles, 1922 Koehne St., and Edward Brill, Brill St. and Southeastern Ave., are suffering today from burns and injuries received late Saturday when a gasoline tank on a Greenwood-In-dianapolis bus exploded at the Southern Motor Service Company, Southeastern Ave. and Brill St. According to police, Ralph Wells, Greenwood, Ind., bus driver, said he drove into the filling station and Brill, the station operator, was fill ing the tank when the explosion took place. Brill and Wells said they did not know what caused the explosion. Bus and station were damaged by fire. ORDERS BOND FORFEITED Collins Says Defendant on Appeal Was Shot in Rum Battle. A $2,000 bond provided by a bonding company during the appe.il of the case of Lloyd Haverstick of St. Louis, Mo., to the State Supreme Court has been ordered forfeited by Criminal Judge James A. Collins. When bonding company represent atives presented an affidavit Saturday that Haverstick is ill in St. Louis. Judge Collins said he had read Haverstick was shot in a rum battle. Haverstick was convicted on charge of transporting liquor and sentenced from one to two years at the Indiana State Reformatory
