Governor Jackson was at his office today after a three-day trip through the southern part of the State with members of the State highway commission. Jackson expressed himself as highly pleased with the trip and intensely interested in the commission’s plan to improve southern Indiana's road system. At a number of points on the trip Jackson spoke. EVACUATION IS RUSHED French Relieving Troops in Ruhr for Moroccan Service. Bn United Press PARIS, July 17.—The foreign office announced today that FYanco will evacuate the Ruhr completely by the end of July. Evacuation is already progressing and some of the troops which Paris announced will be forwarded to the RlfTian war zone are being gleaned from the occupation troops.

Less Opportunity Than in Modern Living Room for Recessed Work Some China Cabinets Placed Beneath Windows. By Molly Elliott Compared to the living room with its fireplace and built-in bookcases or recessed book shelves, the modern dining room offers comparatively small opportunity for built-in features, but there are a few that are worthy of consideration and much may be done with casement windows and French doors to give charm to this room. The built-in china cabinet is less in demand than it was a decade ago, for china is seldom displayed today and the buffets built into breakfast rooms and kitchens serve to hold all the dishe ’ in daily use, while the finer ware is put away in the china closet —usually a solid-doored cabinet matching the design of the furniture. Few Built In There are, however, a few china cabinets built into a combination of inclosed shelves and drawers beneath a group of dining room windows, and these, when finished to match the woodwork of the room and fitted with 1 aded glass doors, are very attractive for the cottage or bungalow type of house. The real Colonial cottage, or the larger Colonial house, is given added charm by the use of the old-fashioned corner cupboard, finished in white or ivory enamel and displaying, through its glass doors, some quaint china patterned after that used years ago. An interesting feature of the newer houses is the recessed space planned for the buffet. This is archtopped and lighted at each side with candelabra lights, and forms a most attractive background for this ornamental piece of dining room furniture. The use of arch-topped openings of window size between the living and dining room is also anew and interesting feature, giving additional light to both rooms. The sill of these openings may be used to hold a low bowl of flowers of brightly colored ornament that shows from either room. French doors on each side of a wide space designed for the buffet are features of the dining room that add to its charm, especially if they open on to an attractive terrace or side porch. May Be Sunroom Sometimes a dining room may serve also as a sunroom, as it does in a small north side bungalow where there are but two persons in the family. It connects the living room with the kitchen and is windowed on two sides with casement windows placed just high enough to allow room for the small buffet below them. A wide archway connects it with the living room on one side, while on the other the door opens into the kitchen. In keeping with the sunroom effect, the floor of this room is of square red tiles am the furniture is of walnut, with a drop-leaf table and Windsor chairs. Should the need arise, either the chairs or table would serve for use in the living room and the dining room may he converted into a real sunroom with very few changes.
