UNSAFE BRIDGE ON ROAD NEAR ALBION CLOSED Detour on No. 46 From Churubusco Is Lengthened. In the weekly traffic bulletin Issued today by the State highway commission, John D. Williams, director, announced the closing of an unsafe bridge on State Rd. 11, south of Albion. Owing to the closing of this bridge the detour on No, 46 from Churubusco to the Intersection with Rd. 11, thence via Albian to Rd. 17, is lengthened by one mile. Surface conditions and detours on roads entering Indianapolis follow: No. 1 (New Albany. Indianapolis, South Bend, Michigan line)—Pavement from Franklin to Peru. One-way traffic, fourton maximum load, allowed on. Kelly Ave. Bridge over Wabash River beinsr repaired in Peru. Run-around at unsafe bridge two and one-half miles north of Edinburg. Account bridge construction, detour west on Rd. 33 at Lebanon for three miles, thence north and northwest on. county road through Thorntown to a point 4 miles north of Thomtowri. A short detour one mile farther northwest. Side detour around culvert construction one mile south of Greensburg. No. 12 (Vincennes, Spencer. Indianapo-lis)—Run-around near west edg of Swiiz City account of culvert construction. No. 15 (Indianapolis, Logansport. Michigan City—Closed for six miles south of Logansport account construction. Martinsville, Indianapolis) Between Martinsville and Bloomington and from English to Paoli road will be closed all summer for Having. (Through traffic between Martinsville and Bloomington so via Spencer over Rds. 13 and 32. There is a passable detour in dry weather between these points, but it is thirteen miles long, six miles being earth, imoassable in wet weather. Detour road also is narrow and two vehicles can net pass in many places.) Due to blasting at new bridge two miles south of Bedford, take marked detour to east in Bedford over State Rd. 4. thence southeast on a bituminous macadam road via Riverdale to No. 22 at Mitchell. This retour is three and onehalf miles long, all over excellent improved road and has no grade crossings. Local traffic can use Leatherwood Creek detour, but must exercise care at two narrow bridges over Leatherwood Creek and at Monon grade crossing. From Paoli there is a county rock road to Grantsburg via Marengo and English. Avoid south of Grantshurg. No. 37 (Indianapolis. Anderson. Mun-c-ie)—Closed from Munoie via Anderson to Pendleton for paving: detour marked. No, 39 (Indianapolis, Rushville. Brookville. Ohio line at Harrison)—Closed between Juliette and Hawthorn (Marion County) for widening and grading. EaSTbound traffic follow marked detour to south of No. 39. West-bound traffic detour north over county road, meeting National Rd. near Cumberland, thence on National Rd. to Indianapolis. 4 Women are employed as sailors on ships sailing from ports in Norway, Sweden and Finland.
PROPOSE SIGHT SEEING BUSSES Interstate Wants to Start ‘Rubberneck’ Line. "Rubberneck’’ busses in which visitors to Indianapolis can see the sights of the city were indorsed by Mayor Shahk and park board members Thursday. Establishment of a sight-seeing line was proposed by J. Edgar Burton, of the Interstate Public Service Company, who said the company intended to operate busses similar to those used on the Interstate line I between this city and Franklin. Committee composed of Frank P. Manly, board member; R. Walter Jarvis, park superintendent and John B. Reynolds, secretary of the Chamber of Comn}£rce, was ap • pointed to consider the proposal. Board members, however, said that the matter should be brought before the public service commission.
