PROTEST UPON MUDDY STREET I IN DAY’S MAIL Pr. Fixit Also Receives Complaint on Weedy y Lots. Tell your woes to Mr. Fixit. He will help you obtain needed city improvements. Write him at The Times. A. muddy alley is an abomination in the opinion of Times readers, according to a letter in Mr. Fixit's mail today. DEAR OLD "FIXIT”: "How come" the alley beside Mr. Shank's new warehouse on Illinois St. was paved before his place was fully completed and Twenty-Third St., between Meridian and Illinois Sts., has been a mud hole for years? "How come,” I wonder. MERIDIAN ST. RESIDENT. "How come" members of. the board of works received no remonstrances on the alley near the mayor’s place of busiress, board members answered Mr. Fixit. W. P. Hargon, clerk of the street commissioner’s departrAent. promised to investigate your "mud hole” within a few days. DEAR MR. FIXIT: Would be very thankful if you would see that the garbage collectors would collect the garbage here at N. Pershing. Ave. in the 1500 block. They haven’t been around here since last winter. Also the trash haulers have not been here for months. Please have it attended to. Thank you. MRS. OLSEN. • 1338 N. Pershing Ave. The board of sanitary commissioners have received your complaint. Truly Nolan, superintendent of garbage collection, will see that your garbage and trash is gathered by his gangs of workmen. X DEAR MR. FIXIT: Please have weeds cut on Dawson St., from Naomi to Minnesota Sts. They are an eye sore to the neighborhood. They even cover the sidewalk. MAE. Mr. Fixit can not aid you here. But you are sure to get results, if you follow the following procedure: Have the neighbor adjoining the weedy lots call Lincoln 3311, the city hall, ask for ' street commissioner’s department. They will ask questions to determine the exact location and other matters. Do it now. CITY’S BUDGET FIGURES LATE New State Regulations Blamed by Controller. City department heads are finding some difficulty in preparing their budgets for 1926 to conform to new Hyegulations cf the State board of accounts and are therefore late in submitting their estimates, according to Joseph L. Hogue, city controller. Under the new regulations, salaries will be listed in detail, to show the number of persons of each grade of pay employed by the city. The budget submitted by the city civil engineer calls for total increase of $179,092 over last year’s appropriation. Among the increases are salaries of forty-two inspectors for seven months, $10,200; junior assistant engineers, $2,100; senior inspector, $3,000;* six inspectors, seven months, $7,200: chemical engineer, $560; asphalt plant salaries, $3,800, and labor, $2,293. John F. Walker, superintendent of street cleaning, asks an increase of $9,543.20. ERROR IN BOND ISSUE City Must Readvertise Sale of Certificates, Says Controller. Readvertising of a $13,000 bond issue of the city park department for improvement and construction or the Conser Ave. entrance to the new Butler University grounds must take place because of an alleged technicality, according to Joseph L. Hogue, city controller. Attorneys for the Fletcher American Company, purchasers of the issue, pointed out that the issup was drawn for thirteen years, when the law specifies it must run for at •teast twenty years.
