G.O.P. TICKET GIVEN PRAISE Jynitage Says He Will Support John Duvall. A tribute to the strength of the Republican ticket was paid by William H. Armitage, political chieftain of the present administration, today following a conference of administration leaders behind the locked doors of the office of Joseph L*. Hogue, city controller. "The organization’s got the State, county and they’re going to have the city,” declared Armitage, who announced he would support the candidacy of John L. Duvall for mayor despite the fact that he was assailed by Duvall. That Mayor Shank, the last leaf on the administration tree to fall for Duvall, has joined the other leaders of his political faction in supporting the Republican nominee was indicated. Bn United Press NEW YORK, July 7.—An advertisement inserted by Fred W, Browning, son of the founder of Browning, King & Cos., has opened the gates of Fairylalnd with the wave of a wand that once was a yardstick. Browning, now many times a millionaire, wants a pretty, refined young girl about 14 years old to become his child, a, companion for his adopted daughter, Dorothy. AGREE ON LAUREL HALL Committee to Recommend Lease Instead of Purchase. Agreement on price for a lease of ftefrel Hall, former estate of StoughFletcher, was reached by the committee of tw-elve business men appointed by Mayor Shank to appraise the property, it was announced, following a secret session in the mayor’s office today. Emsley W. Johnson, member of the park board, said the committee had definitely determined not to buy the property, but to recommend a lease. GPnree perse -ns were injured today when an automobile driven by Miss Joyce Hobson of Sheridan, Ind., ran over the curb and into the front porch at the home of Mrs. Clara Smith, 2301 N. Delaware St., after colliding with a- truck driven by Rodney Edwards, 506 Fulton St. Miss Hobson was charged with assault and battery. Those .injured: Miss Edith Moore, 20, of Hortonvillle, Ind.; John Waymire, 38, of 506 Fulton St., and George Scott, 23, same address. KNOCKED FROM BRIDGE Cripple Seriously Hurt When Struck by Train. Knocked twenty-five feet ft) the ground, from the railroad bridge over White River at the Kingan & Cos., packing plant, a man whom papers showed to be Charles Glover, 52, of Bowling Green, Mo., a cripple, was seriously injured today. He was sent to the city hospital. Glover was struck by a cut of cars of the Indianapolis Union Railway Company. John W. Seymour, 1245 W. Thirtieth St., conductor, said he yelled to Glover, but the man remained in the path of the cars. SIX MADE POLICEMEN Employes of Electrical Department Would Hold Jobs. employes of the electrical department of the board of safety were made policemen today by the board at the request of John Berry, chief electrician. Their salaries will continue to be paid from the electrical department’s budget. Berry said the employes requested the action in view of the approaching change of administration.
