YOUTH BEARS ITS PART OF CHURCH LOAD E. T. Albertson Says ‘Young Folks Assume Task Seriously.' Modem youth is carrying its part of church wc 'k. E. T. Alzertson, executive secretary Indiana Council of Religious Education, expressed confidence in young people in an address Sunday at Western Yearly Conference of Friends at Carmel, Ind. His topic was "The Place of Young People in the Church.” Many Indianapolis persons attended the weekend conference. Assume Tasks “It is my opinion, that where young people are given an opportunity, they assume seriously the tasks of the church,” Albertson declared. “While standards and methods have changed, youth today is essentially as religious as ever. “The numerous summer conferences and training schools for young people which have become so popular are evidences of their interest in serious questions.” Training Needed Regularity in church attendance and training for responsible opportunities were declared by Albertson to be essential as preparation for religious leadership. Local churches, Sunday schools and summer camps were stressed as places for workers to receive practical experience. GdD PLACED ABOVE ALL Hall Place M. E. A “Flying Horse” With the Circus
It didn't take fire crackers to get the youngsters out of bed this morning. Should say not. The reason was because there was a circus In town. Meaning that the Sells-Floto Circus had lots of elephants, lions, other animals and many fine horses to water and feed. And every boy, has the opinion that it is his job to attend such a ceremony. Many a boy trotted out to the circus grounds Sunday on Washington St. and Sheffield Ave. to see the circus arrive. Many more were on hand even earlier today to See the tented city come to life. This circus is particularly dear to the children because It has a “gigantic and most wonderful parade.” Some circuses have given up this

Trust Company Arranges for
Third Cabin Rates to Europe.
The refreshing coolness of a breeze-swept steamer deck try changing panorama of sea and sky from dawn to twilight—new scenes, new faces, new interests —isn’t the thought an attractive one at this hot, dull season of the year? And It really costs very little to enjoy these delights that come with foreign travel, for the Union Trust Company has arranged several extensive European tours that may be taken at a very moderate cost. This is possible, according to Richard A. Kurtz, Manager of the foreign department, by the reservation of the third cabin of such steamers as the Aquitania and the Laconia for the especial use of students who wish to supplement their education by a trip to Europe, and tourists who long to see the beautiful and historical spots in other lands, but cannot afford the expense of firstclass travel. ‘ The third-class cabins have been arranged so that the occupants of them may enjoy comfort and privacy hitherto unknown in accomodations at this price,'’ Kurtz said. “It used to be that, third-class travel was considered out of the question, but that was before the changes were made in cabin arrangements. Now it is a clean and comfortable way to go abroad, and while it may not offer the luxuries of the more expensive accommodations, one can see just as much and learn just as much and have the same pleasure in the trip at a much lower cost.” In order that tourists may know just what the trip will cost them, Kurtz has prepared an itinerary of the route through five countries of Europe—a journey that will take six weeks from start to finish —and has figured the exact cost of the trip from Indianapolis and back,

For numbers and varieties of wild animals and birds, the Sells-Floto circus menagerie is as complete as are many of the zoological gardens in this country, it is said. Cinderella probably thought herself very fortunate when at the touch of a fairy wand, her godmother changed a pumpkin and mice Into a royal coach in which Cinderella rode to the ball In state. The fairy tale heroine, however, was no more fortunate than any Indianapolis woman, for It is only necessary to step to the telephone and call the Plaza Garage for a Hertz sedan, a car more comfortable, better looking and much speedier than Cinderella's coach. The water, of course, would have to be taken "as Is,” but that is only the mildest of the Inconveniences. The butter, In a few hours, would reach the stage where it would have to be served with a spoon or poured, and the lettuce would present a very discouraged appearance. SOLDIERS WIN FOURTH FIELD DAY HONORS City Joins in CelebrationBrig. Gen. Aultman Speaks. Members of the 11th Infantry Saturday walked away with honors of the first annual police and firemen’s field day at the Indiana State ground, where Indianapolis finished one of the most enthusiastic Fourth of July celebrations In the city’s history. “If we have Ideals of Justice and liberty for all we must be prepared to fight for them if necessary,” Brig. Gen. Dwight E. Aultman declared in the Defense day address at the celebration. “If these are threatened the men must fight and the women must stand behind them.” Introduced by Mayor. The speaker was introduced, by Mayor Shank, who presided. While police and firemen were outclassed in the athletic events, members of those organizations contributed to the program with a number of hard-fought boxing and wrestling bouts, tugs of war, exhibitions of strength, displays of fire fighting and other stunts. Closes With Fireworks The celebration closed with fireworks. Music was provided by the Police and Firemen’s and Eleventh Infantry bands. Thousands of soldiers, police, firemen, war veterans, members of fraternal organizations and other citizens marched in the Defense Test Day parade. Col. G. L. Townsend was in charge. In most of the European hotels tips are pooled and then divided by the servants according to the Importance of their positions.

reason would be melted right, off the menu. And about the time a housewife had endured these conditions for a fe wdays the sight of one of the big yellow wagons of the Po’ar Ice and Fuel Company would boas welcome as the sight o fan oasis In the desert. They take the place today of the old time methods of keeping food cool—the "well-house” and the laboriously filled ice-house stored with unsanitary ice cut in winter from some nearby pond. Polar Ice is made under the most sanitary conditions from pure distilled water. It is delivered at regular and convenient intervals, and the saving in food that its use means to the housewife will more than pay for its cost. In addition to its cooling qualities, the melted ice water maizes an excellent shampoo having the same qualities as rainwater but being much easier to obtain in moat houses than clean rainwater.
