CHILD HEALTH WEEK WILL BE , HELD AT LAKE SState and National Bodies to Cooperate at Winona. Several nationally-known experts bn Juvenile health work will speak during child health week, July 6 to 11, at the Winona Lake Chautauqua grounds under joint auspices of the child hygiene division, State board of health, and the children’s bureau, United States Department of Labor, Dr. Ada E. Schweitzer, director of the Stare child hygiene division, will be in direct charge of the program. Invitations have been extended to Vvery child of school age in Kosciusko County and surrounding i lake resorts to attend. General physical and dental ex- , aminations and vision and hearing tests will be given, aa well as mental tests for children under 5, Dr. Schweitzer announced. Dr. Frances Johnson and Dr. Louise R. BouI telle, both of/the State division, -will I assist Dr. Schweitzer. Cards To Be Given Every child examined •will xecetwe three cards: [ 2. Membership card in State Child Health Club. 2. Health record showing needed Approvements. 83. Mental record. Parents will receive health booklets. Booths showing demonstrations presented in. mothers' classes will be arranged and methods of mother and baby care will be explained. Latest books on mother and child health will be distributed free by publishers. Morning sessions the first three days vail be given over to lectures by physicians of the State child health staff. '■'Safeguard'ng Maternity,” will he the oubject of a lecture Mob day by Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of the Rush Medical College and has had special training and wide experience in prenatal work. She has appeared before approximately 1,000 'women each month. Talk on Nutrition D;\ Boutelle will speak on "Nutrition and Habits in Infancy” Tuesday. Dr. Boutelle is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and 'had a year's post-graduate work before entering general practice. Her experience has called her to various parts of the country. Dr Schweitzer will speak on "Heredity vs. Environment” Wednesday. Her eighteen years’ work in the State health department, together with special study of child health problems, has won top her national recognition. The State Association of ParentTeachers will be in charge of the Thursday and Friday programs. Child hygiene examinations and •imonstrations, however, will be ven these days. Dr. Florence E. By United Press , _ WAWASEE LAKE, Ind., June 26. —"lt’s an ill wind that blows nobody good," is the comeback of small boys of Syracuse, who are reaping a big harvest as a result of the recent drought. , They are selling fish worms to vacationists at from one to three cents each. Not in many years have worms been as scarce as they are today. After digging up a fifth of an acre of ground in. search of worms one angler found only a dozen and decided to pay the price demanded by the boys. Grasshoppers and crickets are selling at two to three cents each and the boys are unable to supply the demand.
